Lightroom unable to play HEVC video even with codec installed

I opened Lightroom to try and color grade some video I shot yesterday with my Canon EOS R5. After importing the footage, the app gave me the message "Unable to play this video, it requires a codec that isn't installed on your computer."

 

It provides a link to the Windows store to download the HEVC codec for $0.99. This is great, however, I already have this same codec installed, which allows me to edit video in Premiere Pro.

 

Why isn't Lightroom recognizing the codec when Premiere Pro does? I already tried restarting and updating the app.

 

This is with Lightroom v 5.5 on Windows 10 v 10.0.19044

Hi there,

 

Lightroom and Camera raw support only HEIF/.heic & HEVC (H.265) files created with iOS devices at the moment.

The team is working to provide support.
