Question

Lost all photos after switching phones – please help

 Hello,

I recently changed my phone (from a Samsung M12 to a Samsung A16) and transferred all my data. When I opened the Lightroom Mobile app on the new device, I realized that all my previous photos were missing.

I logged in with my Google account (sokrovishe97ag@gmail.com), which I believe was the one I used before. I also tried checking via Facebook and the Lightroom Web version, but none of them showed my previous photos.

On the old phone, I had many important photos saved in Lightroom Mobile. I suspect they were stored locally and not synced to the cloud.

Is there any chance you can help me recover these photos?

Here are my details:

- Email: sokrovishe97ag@gmail.com

- Old phone: Samsung M12

- New phone: Samsung A16

- Last access to Lightroom with all photos: around May 2025

Please let me know if there’s anything else I can do. These photos are very important to me.

Thank you in advance!

Restore the new phone from a backup of the old phone. That will bring back locally stored photos.

I don't know how to do this. Everything I've tried doesn't work, there's no result.

Hi @?????_??????????6929, Thank you for reaching out, and welcome to the community. I'm sorry to hear about your trouble. We're here to help!

Lightroom Mobile on Android stores photos in a private app directory, generally not directly accessible via a standard file manager. Is your old phone still with you? If so, the best chance of recovering your photos is to access your old Samsung M12. Do not reset it, factory reset it, or do anything that might erase its data.

On your old phone, please make sure you are logged into the same Adobe ID you were using when you last saw the photos, and follow these steps:

  • Check if the photos are still in the Lightroom Mobile app on the old phone. If they are, that's great news!
  • Export Photos from Lightroom Mobile on your M12
  • Select all the missing photos within the Lightroom Mobile app.
  • Look for the "Share" or "Export" option (often an icon that looks like a share symbol or an arrow pointing out of a box).
  • Choose "Save copy to Device" or "Export as...".
  • Once saved to your device's gallery, you can easily transfer them to your new Samsung A16 using various methods, such as Samsung Smart Switch, connecting to a computer, and then transferring them to a safe place.

Let us know how it goes!

Cheers!

Noel
