Nikon Z8 Camera profiles not recognized/correctly applied in LR Mobile

In LR Classic (or LR CC; it doesn’t matter which desktop version of LR I’m using) in the Development module I select a profile from the Camera Matching group (it doesn't matter which profile, the problem is always the same) as a starting point for my editing. After editing the photo completely I synchronize the photo to Lightroom. If I look at it in LR Mobile (it doesn’t matter if I use Android or iOS, the problem is the same) in Grid view then everything looks great and in the same way as in LR Classic. But as soon as I wanna start to edit it in LR mobile the color changes and the photo looks quite different then before.

I shoot with a Nikon Z8 in RAW mode and I never had that problem with my older Nikon D800. I also checked the installed Profiles on LR Mobile and the Profile group Camera Matching with all its profiles is there and they have the same name as in LR Classic. Everything works fine if I use another Profile not from the group Camera Matching.

I’m using all the latest product versions, i.e. LR Classic version 13.2 with Camera Raw 16.2 on a Windows 11 Version 23H2 (Build 22631.3374) and LR Mobile version 9.2.2 on Android 14.

Does anybody have an idea what’s the problem and how I can solve it so the photo looks the same in LR Mobile as in LR Classic?

Many thanks for your help,

Urs

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Delete the app from your Android or iOS device and reinstall (after making sure it was fully synced before deleting the app). That usually fixes mismatched profiles in the mobile apps.

Hmm, might be a bug then if reinstalling the app doesn't fix it. I don't see this problem with images from my Z7. If you can share some images (use dropbox or similar and post a link) then people can test.

Please find here a link to one of my original (unprocessed) raw files from my Nikon Z8. I hope that helps to find the problem.

I just imported this straight from your email into Lightroom on my phone and you are right, all profiles are missing. Very strange even the Adobe profiles are missing. It comes up as a matrix profile which I have never seen before. This is very strange and looks like a bug to me. The z8 is not that new! Will look some more on my desktop when I get to that and analyze the raw file.

I synced the Z8's RAW data with the latest version and it was displayed without any problems.
Z8 RAW data is large, so syncing takes time.
If the synchronization is incomplete, it seems that the data will not be displayed correctly.
When I waited for the synchronization to be complete, it was displayed correctly.

Many thanks for your feedback. I'm sure the synch process is completed because a) that's what he Cloud icon shows to me "synchronization completed" and b) I uploaded the files already many weeks ago.

Just to be sure, I have the problem ony with the Camera profiles. Do they work for you?

Because the problem still exists I investigated further and could reproduce the following (in my opinion wrong) behaviour:

1) In LR Classic import a Z8 RAW (NEF) image with Develop Settings set to Camera Settings.

2) In the Develop module I checked the Profile under the Basic tab and it says Camera Standard; Standard was the profile I selected in my Nikon Z8 during I took the photo --> that's what I have expected

3) In the Libray module I created a virtual copy of the image and synched it with Lightroom

4) On the Android app I waited until everything was synched and afterward I checked the used Profile --> there was none selected (but I would expect that also here Camera Standard would be selected) and teh photo looks like washed  out

5) Back in LR Classic and in the Develop module I changed the Profile to Adobe Raw / Adobe Color, waited until everything was synched and checked in the Android app the used Profile; it was as expected set to Adobe Color and the photo looks like as expected too

6) Back on LR Classic I switched the Profile to Camera Vivids and checked again the Profile in the Android App and this time it was correct set and the photo looks like expected

==> I run that several times with different profile combinations and it looks like that LR will not correctly synch the profile if during the Import I set for Develop Settings teh value Camera Settings.

Any idea how to solve the issue?
