Question

Recurrent failure to delete photos from Lightroom

I'm using Lightroom 5.2 on Windows laptop, fully updated.

I'm currently being frustrated by a recurrent issue where after deleting several files, Lightroom will stop sending files to the deleted trash can when I delete them and instead will 'grey out' the file in the folder and let it sit there indefinitely. If you try to right click and re select delete the option is no longer there. I've tried shutting the program and restarting it and mostly that works but I'm getting tired of doing that as a solution!

My cloud storage is full, my local storage is filling and I'm trying to clear out after a week away on holidays taking tons of photos but I'm handicapped.

The same thing is happening with the deleted folder. When the files stop being deleted, I stop being able to empty the trash can and clear my storage. Restarting generally solved this but again, tiresome.

Help please! I can't find any suitable answers in the forum. Thanks in advance.

I'm running into the same issue. Constantly. The latest version of  Lightroom, Windows 11. Often the problem solves after I restart the APP. However, when I do that, all 'greyed out' images are back online; and any changes applied - are undone. Not to lose too much of my work, I need to relaunch the APP every 5-to-20 minutes.

Why won't Adobe address this obvious bug? It's not just an occasional problem for a very few people. We PAY for a system that works. FIX IT.

This issue is still happening on version 14.2.  I can use LrC for an hour or so before it starts being slow at moving files, deleting files, renaming them and scrolling really slow, I'm running an i9 49000K + 4080 Super with 64GB of RAM.  The library files are on an NVMe drive.  The performance is abysmal, it seems to get worse with every update.  At least I got a promotion and only pay half the full monthly fee for a year.

This appears to be an mildly irritating trend as of late, members adding into ancient postings that have little or nothing to do with their problem. In this case a 3 year old post concerning failure to delete. But new reply mostly about performance.

Please please post your own discussion. When you do, include your above issues, and include the system info found in LrC /Help/System Info/, and a screenshot of LrC /Preferences/Performance/

Is it as irritating as the problems caused by LrC and all the bugs it seems
to have these days. Or the fact that some people can't seem to read
properly. I have exactly the same issues when deleting images as all the
folk who posted, with the most recent one being last October. The
performance specs were to show it isn't due to an old, slow system.

I'm fed up with posting my own discussion and being told by moderators to
add it to an existing one despite that being old, or it's in the wrong
place. This forum is really less than helpful of late.

I am dealing with this same issue!

If we could have this issue fixed, or at the very least explained, that'd be great.

I can not get photos to delete! The most it will do is move images to the "deleted" folder, but is not fully deleting them even after I select "perminately delete". Images will go dark and I am unable to select them,.... but they will NOT delete. I'm on wifi. I've even tried to delete without wifi... I've tried redownloading the app on my desktop and it still will not work. So frustrating, and is slowing my work flow.

I am using a Mac- lightroom verison 5.2

Is Lightroom busy syncing perhaps? Or it doesn't have internet access?

Please post your System Information as Lightroom Classic (LrC) reports it. In LrC click on Help, then System Info, then Copy. Paste that information into a reply. Please present all information from first line down to and including Plug-in Info. Info after Plug-in info can be cut as that is just so much dead space to us non-Techs.

Hi,

Thanks for your response!

I'll paste the whole system info as my quick eye scan can't seem to find
the plug-in section, sorry.
