removing images from lightroom cc without deleting them from Everything else

the title says it all. When I go into the online version of LR CC ( the desktop one won't even give me an option) to delate photos from there it says its going to deleate it from everything Adobe, I don't want that. How do I just clear up my online storage without losing it from everywhere else?

Sorry you can’t. That’s by design. Originals are stored in the cloud and appropriate sized previews are sent to devices and desktop.  If you delete from the cloud (on-line in web browser) you delete everywhere, including locally stored copies.

It's best export copies or make backup copies to a local folder before clearing from the cloud.

so what you are saying is that Adobe is effectively holding my copyrighted

images hostage.

I’m saying that if your house burns down Adobe is keeping your originals safe.

I would agree with you "if" I could choose what goes on the cloud and IF I

could remove them without removing them from my own hardware. That being

said, what if I took my main computer offline (the one with everything

stored on it) and removed them from the cloud from another computer, or

would it just remove them when I brought it back online?

I think you may have the wrong product. You would probably be better off with Lightroom Classic. You can only sync smart previews to the cloud by creating collections (Albums) but the originals always remain in the folders on your computer.

If you are using the local storage option in preferences you could copy everything to another drive before re-connecting your computer when the sync process will re-start.

I have both but it seems like I'm forced to keep all my images on the cloud

if I want to have access to them and like I'm being forced to upgrade by

not allowing a person to freely remove and add to the cloud without it

affecting my images elsewhere (having them removed) .
