Run Lightroom on iPad in Offline mode

New Here ,
Jan 07, 2025 Jan 07, 2025

Hello,

I do have an Adobe photography plan and am using LR Classic (desktop) on a PC.

I have a few travels planned (in countries with Internet is not something readilby available (where I will have no network/Internet connectivity). With LR Classic (desktop) it would work but I would like to only leave with a tablet (ideally iPad PRO or not) and not a laptop.

So this is a dual question:

Can I run a version of LR that doesn't require Internet access on an iPad/PRO? Either Classic (desktop) or LR CC if it can work with local storage only and does not require Internet access.

Thank you very much!

What about the ability to run in offline mode with the mobile versions? Can I import my photos on an iPad and work on them without Internet connection at all? If not it's a showstopper for me seen the places I will travel to.

Yes, Lightroom mobile works fine without internet, as long as your enable the option to store images locally. Alternatively, you can simply disable syncing for the entire trip.

Lightroom Classic requires either Windows or Mac OS operating systems.

However, there are mobile versions of Lightroom (not Lightroom Classic) that will run on your iPad. These don't have all of the features of LrC, but the mobile versions allow you to do a lot of editing.

Please ask in the proper forum. You want to ask in the Lightroom (Ecosystem) forum

Thank you Johan, I'll now be able to travel light with an iPad only knowing that I'll be able to cull my photos with my future iPad on the go while in safari.

It works best if, before you leave on the trip, do one last good sync and then Pause Syncing. Don’t resume sync until you get home.

The Pause Syncing setting in Lightroom is independent of iPad internet access in general. So, for example, you can pause Lightroom cloud sync for the whole trip while leaving wifi/cellular Internet access enabled for the iPad at the system level, in case you need to do a little web browsing/email during the occasional times that an Internet connection is available.
