Samsung Galaxy S23 plus 8GB Ram 256GB storage. When loading RAW image from gallery and editing in lightroom there are numerous crashes using all features eg crop, presets etc.

Also when saving an image, there is a buffering circle showing on the image, the image is sharp. When the circle stops buffering the saved image is blurred.

Attached photo of sharp image and final  blurred image.

Hope you can help.

Thanks.

Hey, @Sharon eco. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll help you figure this out. What version of Android & Lightroom are you working on? Do you work with RAW or JPEG images?

Try keeping the device in Flight Mode & without internet when you launch Lightroom.

Log on to Lightroom Web (https://lightroom.adobe.com) & check for all the images that have synced & uploaded to the cloud. Once you're sure everything is backed up to the cloud, try reinstalling Lightroom & let me know how it goes.

Thanks!

Hi Sameer, I'm using lightroom version 8.4.2 on Android 13. The same problem happens on my Samsung Galaxy S22 running Android 12 and Lightroom 8.4.2.

The camera is a Sony A7RV.

All photos are imported in RAW to lightroom, then saved as a jpeg.

Thanks.

There are occasional blurs when you apply edit for a tiny second that Lightroom takes to process the edit.
You can try this too:

  • Select an image  > Click on the cloud icon > Download Original > test again.

If this does not help, please record your screen while you're editing & share the video with us so we can check if it is behaving abnormally.

Thanks!

Here is a screen recording of what is happening.

Opening a photo that I have done some adjustments on from RAW.
Photo is loading, then I press presets, Adaptive subject then lightroom crashes.
This is just one instance of what is happening.
Lightroom can crash when I select crop or make adjustments to light, colour etc.

I would double check your import settings along with camera/lens specific profile & settings in Lightroom to ensure that isn't the issue for the blur.

Also ensure that your export settings are correct including intended format, color profile, and export sharpening. You could also try switching smart previews on or off depending on your current settings.

Unfortunately the issue with freezing or crashing isn't really an app issue it is more of a hardware issue.

I have an S23+ and tested some of the basic AI, masking, and adjustment features while monitoring device systems status, the CPU and RAM tend to max out with even medium intensity tasks.

One thing you could try to at least reduce some crashes would be allocate additional dedicated memory for application processes (essentially uses a set amount of standard internal memory as additional RAM)

- go to device settings

- Go to device care or type "RAM Plus" into the search field

- Turn RAM Plus on and select the desired amount of allocated virtual memory.

This may help reduce crashes but it likely won't resolve the issue entirely as the device simply can't handle the processing requirements of Lightroom mobile.
