Saved images not transferring to Lightroom

I am presently trailling the Adobe photography plan. I have edited an image in Lightroom then transferred to Photoshop for further editing. On completeion I then saved as a temp edit as per the Adobe tutorial and closed Photoshop. On return to Lightroom only my oroginal image is there - not the one I have just edited in Photoshop. Any suggestions what I am doing wrong?

I have just uninstalled Photoshop and reinstalled but same problem. After I have completed edits in Photoshop I have clicked on the 'save ' (not save as) tab and am then invited to save the image which has been named -edit and is a psd file . It is saved to a Temporary edits file (I see that in the dropdown menu of places to save file to is Lightroom Library - I had assumed that this is where the file should be saved but if I click on Lightroom Library it immediatley returns to Temporary Edits!). As stated before I then exit Photoshop and return to Lightroom but only the original (unedited) image is there. This is driving me mad as I am at a loss what to try next. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Try quitting and relaunching Lr. That usually brings the edited image up in the filmstrip, though sometimew I have to quit/relaunch twice.

Once you share with the community your actual version of Lr or LrC, the moderator can move your post to the correct community. Based on the video you shared, it appears you have Lr not LrC, and as such this should have been posted in the Lightroom Ecosystem (Cloud Based) community.

ahh/ edit/ moved already.

I have had the same problem 95% of the time over the last 2 years, across multiple versions and systems. I am currently running Lr Ecosystem v7.1.2 (not classic) on a very clean, new MacBook Air M2 w/16 GB RAM, OS 14.2.1. The workflow is illustrated in a demo posted on page 3 of this forum (https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-ecosystem-cloud-based-discussions/quick-tip-how-to-edit-in-photoshop-from-lightroom/td-p/14199940), but to summarize:
1. Select an image in Lr and select File>Edit in Photoshop...
2. Complete edits in Ps, Select Save... then close the file
3. Lr automatically comes back to the front (becomes the active app) but 95% of the time, the edited version does not show up in Lr until I quit and relaunch the app. Once in a great while, I get lucky and it actually works.
I'm wondering if this has anything to do with file size? I'm shooting and editing jpegs, but the "Edit in Photoshop..." command converts my 10MB jpeg into a 100-250Mb TIFF in Ps. (I understand that LrC has an option to export as jpeg instead of TIFF but I can't find a similar option on the Ecosystem version).
I love Lr and but now edit virtually every photo in Ps for the Genfill capabilities, so this is a major inconvenience/time-suck.

Thanks for your post. I agree it is really frustrating. The process should be ( and is) really simple so hard to know what I can di different. All my files are in raw. Today I am going to uninstall photoshop and install fresh to see if that solves my problem.

Ok, so that tutorial does not mention a temp edit. It tells you to click on Save.

Are you perhaps accidentally clicking on Save As?

Save should add the resulting image to the Album (Lr) or Catalog (LrC), Save As will not.

Note that the resulting photo will have a slightly different file name (-Edit will be added to the file name) this is not a temp file.

1. In Lightroom or Lightroom Classic (what ever one you are using) click on Help, then About. And share with us the info that yields

What do you mean with "I then saved as a temp edit as per the Adobe tutorial"? What is a 'temp edit' and what tutorial exactly? Could it be you confused Lightroom and Lightroom Classic tutorials? You posted this in the Lightroom Classic forum, and you have the plan that contains Lightroom Classic. If you send an image from Lightroom Classic to Photoshop, then all you need to do it hit 'Save' in Photoshop and the image should return.

ASI understand it I have Lightroom not LRC and I am referring to the tutorial on creative cloud ‘ how to remove objects using Lightroom and Photoshop ‘ which states that after carrying out edits in photoshop you should save it and then quit photoshop whereupon on returning to Lightroom the edited image will appear along with the unedited image but only the latter is there.

You said you have the Adobe Photography plan. That is the plan intended for Lightroom Classic and you posted your question in the Lightroom Classic forum. If you used Lightroom I will move your question to that forum.

You still have not answered my question what you meant with 'saving it as a temp edit'.
