Stop Lr from opening SD card photo preview

Before I Installed Lr my sd card photos opened fine now whenever I insert my sd card they open with Lr. the actually program doesnt open its the sd folder on the computer. I dont like that they dont open as quickly as before having Lr installed.

Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll help you figure this out. This is due to the file type association of the ARW files set to Lightroom. Try this:

 

  • Select & right-click on an ARW file from the SD card.
  • Get Info > Open With:
  • Set to use 'Preview' from the drop-down menu, which is the default for macOS.
