Before I switch to LrC 13.3, I wanted to heed the tip that all syncs should be completed first. Unfortunately, Lightroom (Desktop) shows that a synchronization is in progress, but it never comes to an end. When I filter for the images that are currently being synchronized, none are displayed. There is no synchronization showing in the smartphone app and in LrC, only in Lightroom (desktop).
How can I find out what the problem is and how can I fix the situation?
I've just got a call from Adobe support and they fixed the issue of the stuck sync process. Before the call there were 6 images syncing forever... Here's the solution:
1. Generate diagnostic report from Lightroom Classic Sync preferences tab
2. Unzip the diagnostic report to extract the contents
3. Double click on lrsync_log.html file to open it in a browser & Select "Lightroom Classic Diagnostic Logs"
4. Select "Binary Uploader"
5. If there are files in needsBinaryUpload section with binaryType as p

Hi,
if I understand correctly you are not yet on 13.3 - right? Then you can click on the cloud symbol and then on the settings symbol and you should see the list of files beeing synchronized right now.
If your are already on 13.3 - welcome to the club. 6 files synching endlessly for me 😞

I am not on 13.3 right now, because i read somewhree (I think via Lightroomqueen blog), that you make sure that all syncs are done before the upgrade. I think what you describe is the way in Lr Classic, but teh screen shot (and the endless sync of course) is in cloud based Lightroom (Desktop).

I think the exact verbiage is to make sure Uploads are done first.
The new sync engine fixes much of the stuck-sync issue. If you are sitting at the same number for more than an hour, I would recommend performing the update.

The thing is
(a) I am sitting here for several hours waiting for the sync to end
(b) I have done the update to v 7.3 on (cloud-based) Lr already. This is the version that is sticky right now.
My LrC is not syncing - it seems that everything's good in LrC.

If the number hasn't moved in an hour, you are likely not going to see it move. LrC only attempts a sync 4-times before you have to restart the app.
I would update.

Actually... there's no number showing.
Is there any way to find out which images Lr thinks it is synchonizing. As you can see the filtering doesn't show any.

Oh sorry. I can't see a screenshot...

No... I am sorry. Now that you mentioned I see, that it is not showing up. I try to add it to the original post on top.

A in this version you can find the files by filtering for them. Perhaps you can find the problematic ones

That's what I tried but the filtering result is a black hole! 😞

Oh sure - it´s on your screenshot - I missed the filter though you had a red arrow pointing to it 🙈

By the way - you are in the LR Classic section of the forum 🙂

You're right. I didn't start it n this section. I think it was moved to here but that's not correct, because it's a cloud based Lightroom issue.

Lr syncing issues may be solved by going to Lightroom Web (adobe.lightroom.com), sign into your adobe account. If there are sync issues they will be listed under Sync(s) Issue in the left panel.

Yes, I am aware of that, but no sync issues are shown in LrW. 😞

You're in Lr Desktop and it seem to be stuck, right? Does everything look ok in Lr Web? If so, you probably have little to lose by going to Classic. If unsure, send a desktop diagnostic log to customer support and get them to figure out what's stuck.

In Lr Web everything is fine. No sync activity going on.
I'm a little hesitant because the last major update got me into a hell of a lot of trouble and kept me busy for weeks. The problem seems to have been fixed for about a month now.
LrC crashing randomly even at startup
So at the moment I have the famous German ANGST! 😉
On the other hand I have a catalog backup and could go back. But I have to take notes of what I have done in the new catalog in case I have to roll back. It's most of the time organizational things like adding new collections or changing collections. The edits will be in the XMP files, so I would only lose the edit history.

Ups.. I just read in your forums about the (potential) bug (?) by writing metadata to files and your recommendation to not use this feature. Bummer! This is exactly what I wanted to do to get my edits saved if I have to do a rollback to my current version of LrC. This is a real BUMMER!

If you're going back to your 13.2 catalog, I suspect you could get around it by pausing sync, writing the metadata to the files as you intended, and then going back to 13.2 and only then resuming sync. The issue seems to be limited to sync in 13.3, so pausing it should be ok I think.
I'm a little confused though, we're talking stuck sync in Desktop. How is Classic fitting into the mix?

Can we just regroup as I'm a bit confused and I don't want to give you the wrong info!
What's your current Desktop version number?
What's your current Classic version number?
Which app have you been using?
Is Classic sync currently ok, not stuck?
Is Desktop sync still stuck?
