Sync with Lightroom Classic from Ligthroom Cloud

Hi

I've recently moved my entire library from Lightroom Classic to Lightroom CC in order to have all original files uploaded and safetely stored in the cloud.

Now I reinstalled LClassic on my Mac. What will it happen if I click the Sync button on the upper right? Will it download automatically a new copy of the files on my Mac? Do I risk to lose any data?

Second question, if I work in LClassic with files uploaded in CC and if I create a new file, for example by using the new command "Denoise" which create a new file will it be uploaded in the Cloud automatically or will it be only on your desktop version?

Thank you very much

Alessandro

If you sync with LR Classic, all the files in the cloud will download to your LR Classic desktop, and that will become the primary storage for all your original files. Originals that you uploaded via Lightroom may remain in the cloud for some time, but if cloud storage gets full, the originals in the cloud may be replaced by Smart Previews over time.

Lightroom Classic will never upload an original file to the cloud, it always uploads only Smart Previews.

Any file you create or import new in Lightroom Classic will not be uploaded to the cloud automatically. The new file needs to be in a synced collection. Lightroom Classic only syncs files in specific collections.

Thank you very much.

The original files will be downloaded to LR Classic in folders (folder meaning same as Albums in LCC)?

If I create a new .dng file in LR Classic then I have to export it and reimport it in LCC to have it stored in the cloud, correct?

Thank you !

Thank you. When you say import in ligthroom from where should I import it? From LRCC desktop or from any mobile device? So I click on the smart preview of the new dng file or any tiff file and select it and then Import?

Thank you!

Importing in Lightroom desktop makes the most sense, because the image is on the hard disk of your computer. You don't click on any image. Just import the image like you would import any image in Lightroom desktop, but do select the album the smart preview is already in.
