The New Lightroom CC Desktop (V9) Batch Rename feature - Custom Templates Not Syncing

Tested the new Batch Rename feature in Lightroom (V9). I created a custom template in Lightroom V9 Macbook but the template did not sync to my Lightroom Desktop (V9). Changes to filenames do sync but custom templates seem to be local to the app. Is this by design or a bug? Surely Custom Templates should be available to all devices supporting rename?

That is by design... Lightroom Classic would need access to the original files in order to rename them, and they might be offline at the time they sync.

If you sync with Classic, always do your renaming in Classic. Those renames will sync up to the cloud and back to Desktop.

Templates not syncing is currently by design, but as a feature request, being able to sync them would be great.

Testing the new Batch Rename feature in LIghtroom Desktop (V9). Changes are syn'ed across to other Lightroom V9 clients. However they do not appear to sync to the Lightroom Sync'd images held in LRC (V15). Is this by design or a bug? If by design then its a bit of an issue (IMHO) as identiying files will become impossible. Seems to be another case of forcing people to simply use the cloud versions if you want ot sync.

Hey @dragondart, thanks so much for reaching out!

I’ve tried testing this on my end but haven’t been able to reproduce the issue just yet. When you get a chance, could you share a screen recording of your workflow showing the full screen? Also, let me know what macOS version you’re using, that’ll help us dig a little deeper.

Appreciate it!
