I'm not sure if this is a bug or not. It's happened on the latest version of Lightroom 9.2.0 for the iPad IOS 17.3.1 & wasn't happening before i installed the update, but equally I've only just started taking photos in raw where the file sizes are much larger, but still I don't think this should cause the problem.
if I import say 50 photos from a memory card & start editing them, I'll be ok for maybe half of them, & then it reaches a point where a photo is not editable. The cloud icon is blue rather than the green & this doesn't change even if I leave it for a few minutes. If I turn the iPad off & on, that does seem to clear it for a little while until I can't edit again & half to reboot - it's not just on photos I haven't edited yet, it will stay blue on a picture I edited minutes earlier. I have plenty of space on my iPad & also in the Lightroom cloud
thank you for any assistance

Hi Bryan,
Thank you for reaching out here with this issue that you are seeing after directly importing from the mwmory card. I tried to replicate this issue as close as possible by importing from SD Card on iPad running on iOS 17.4. I imported 130 RAW photos and after importing started making quick random edits one after the other by swiping to the next image. I continued on about 45 raw images and had no issue of loading smart preview & editing.
Few questions now:
1. Did you import from SD Card?
2. What kind of edits were you generally making ? For example masking, presets or just retouching some light and color sliders?
3. Are you using Lr on only iPad or are you logged in on any other surface too ? If yes, how did that behave?
4. Would you be able to send/attach a screen recording here of your workflow of edits you were making?
5. What are the sizes of your files normally in this case? (I used photos of ~25 MB each)
Thanks again and sorry for the inconvenience you are having. Looking forward to hearing back from you with more info so we can better assist you.
Regards.

Hi, thank you for the reply
1. Did you import from SD Card? I import to the iPad from an SD card, then delete unwanted photos before loading the minimal number into Lightroom
2. What kind of edits were you generally making ? For example masking, presets or just retouching some light and color sliders? Presets in nearly all cases, cropping & some masking too. But the issue occurs before I can edit the files.
3. Are you using Lr on only iPad or are you logged in on any other surface too ? If yes, how did that behave? I only use it on an iPad.
4. Would you be able to send/attach a screen recording here of your workflow of edits you were making? - do you mean for a photo where it's worked properly? The problem is I can edit some photos & then after that I can't actually edit new photos.
5. What are the sizes of your files normally in this case? (I used photos of ~25 MB each) I'm importing in TAW from a Sony A7iv so file sizes a]can be around 70mb
Thank you

This morning I loaded around 30 raw images on to LR. I was able to edit the first 10 or so but then when I opened another & clicked on crop, I get the issue (see attachments). What this also does is stop me from editing further then images that I'd already edited as they now have the blue cloud rather than green.
as mentioned before, my cloud is not full up & nor is the iPad & WiFi is working fine.
thank you

Hi Bryan,
Thanks for getting back with the answers to my questions. I was partially able to reproduce the issue you mentioned (in crop) and have logged it for our engineers to take a look. FWIW the issue I saw can be resolved by going back to grid or exit & reenter Crop and occurs without the Direct import element included.
Just in case you have never used the Screen Recorder on iOS here are the instructions for it:
In iOS Settings > Control Center > tap on + for Screen Recording to bring it in quick view. Then if you swipe down from the top right side of the iPad screen you will see a circular icon (Screen recording) which when you will tap on, will get activated and you can capture a video on the screen. Once you are done, swipe down again from the same top right corner of the screen and tap on the circular Screen Recording button to stop it. This screen recording will be in your native photos app which you can attach here.
I basically wanted to know more about your workflow.
1. Did you keep going in details view of each photo by just swiping to the next image after editing the previous or kept going to grid too in between ?
2. Did you try to force quit the app?
Would be helpful if you can send a video of your workflow.
Thanks for providing all the info.
Regards.

Thank you - I'll come back to you when I next get the issue - probably in a few days after another concert

Hi, hopefully this gives an idea of the issue. I imported all at the same time as raw files. I can edit a few without any issue but then the cloud has the blue circle meaning I can't edit the photo. It's not on every photo, but weirdly if I then go back to a photo I already edited a few seconds earlier, this now can't be edited again either. Thank you
