Please add Plugin support for Lightroom CC! Ability to seamlessly use plugins like Topaz Denoise or Aurora HDR are the only thing missing for me in lightroom CC. Exporting, editing in other app, exporting again and importing back to lightroom is a huge pain.

That's an interesting question. Not sure how that would be accomplished unless on the desktop version only. Not sure it would would work with Mobile and web based versions.

No not at present. You would need Lr Classic or Photoshop to run plug-ins.

I use plugins. Nowhere to be found in the new UI, the top menu, the help search, there is no sign of them. Are they well hidden? Do I have to build my own from scratch? This alone defeats the very purpose of using Lr as a tool to speed up your process. Now I have to work more and take more time. Oh well.I'm closing this and going back to Lr Classic. See you in 2 years.

They're not in there yet, but I'll switch this to a feature request. Classic's the right tool for you right now.

Hi, this is very disappointing as I have purchased Lightroom CC and edit all my images in silver efex pro. Do you know if this is likely to change soon or should I just change my subscription to Lightroom Classic.

Did you know that most (all?) of the NIK (plugins) will work as 'Stand-alone' software?

If you Save your edited image to the hard-drive as a JPG-  From Lightroom-CC,

Save your photos to a hard drive or share on Facebook

You can then simply-

1. Start NIK Silver Efex

2. [Ctrl+O]   or Menu File > Open

3. Edit with Nik and [Save image as...]

(Note: open a Copy or do 'Save Image as...' because  'Save' will over-write the file that you open.)

Nik does not put links in the Start menu or desktop icons, but it is easy to find the program (in Windows - Silver Efex Pro2  64bit) and add a link to the Start page or the Task bar.

Hi abeander,

Which plugins are you trying to install? Lightroom CC do not support plugins as of now unlike Lightroom Classic CC. Please share your feedback here Photoshop Family Customer Community so that our Engineers can check and plan to implement the requests.

Thanks,

Akashs

I love the way Lightroom CC is heading. That said I'm not quite ready to switch yet because there are still too many of the great Classic features missing in CC. The one feature I miss the most is plugin support for other external editors like Affinity Photo or Luminar 2018.

Are you guys planning to implement this soon?

Agreed - even though HDR processing is there, I prefer to use external applications to do so. Without the plugin capability, I can't switch over to the new Lightroom CC.

The only news you will ever see or hear about such features is when/if they are added. Such announcements are never made in advance from Adobe.

Yes, absolutely agree! Please add external editors. That is a deal breaker for me.

Also agree! Would like to switch over from Classic to CC, but until there is plugin support (Luminar, Aurora HDR), can't do it.

Same here, support for other apps such as Luminar or Aurora HDR would make me switch fully as well

I'm using a PC. I can't find a way to add Exposure 4 to Lightroom CC. According to the Alien Skin help page I should be able to do this from Lightroom by going to the Edit>Preferences tab>external editing and adding from there, but when I go to Edit>preferences, there is no external editing tab. Any help is appreciated.

Lightroom CC does not support plugins. Only Lightroom Classic CC (that was formerly knows as Lightroom CC2015) does.

I really like the user interface and sync of the new Lightroom a lot. However, sometimes I want to use external editors for some of my photos like Photolemur and Luminar. And the workflow for using external editors is terrible.

The current workflow:
1. Export photos.
2. Edit in an external editor.
3. Import photos back into Lightroom.
4. Add pick flag to new photos.
5. Add photos to correct albums.
6. Stack the photos with the original photo.
7. Make sure the new photo is the top of the stack.
8. Remove pick flag from original photos (this is required to prevent doubles showing up in shared albums).

I recently did this with 100 photos. Step 1-3 took just over an hour. Step 4-8 took 4 hours.
The end result is a mess and not really what I want.

The workflow I wish we had:
1. Export photos.
2. Edit in an external editor.
3. Import photos back into Lightroom as new versions/layers (lightroom automatically matches the photos up with the original and replaces the originals (original still available through history/layers), metadata is copied from the original to the new one, all flags/ratings are applied to the new one, it is placed in the same albums).

And no, plugins would not be a good enough solution.

In lightroom cc I can right click a photo and say edit in photoshop.  I can then browse to elements and it will open the program, but it will not open the photo in elements.  Also a way to export photos to shutterfly or any other program without saving it first on my computer.

Rachel,

For RAW did you convert the RAW photos to TIFF or any other format?  Normally RAW photos are in 16 bit in the camera and on a computer until you print them, then the printer will want to change them to an 8 bit file.  Printers won't take a compressed 16 bit file as it goes to print.  Likewise, I wonder if your files are not being saved to another folder because you didn't convert their 16 bit to 8 bit.   I'm not sure what your JPG files are doing.

Is allowing plugins to work with LR CC Cloud based in the plans? If not, it really cripples the app!
