P: Provide similar acknowledgements when a photo is moved in or out of a Target album.

When you press T it does different things depending on whether the photo is already in the target album

If the photo is NOT in the target album: it adds the photo AND it displays a popup saying that it added it

If the photo is ALREADY in the target album: it removes it WITHOUT the popup feedback

EXPECTED: a popup that says "removed from target album"

Thanks

I've asked the team to review the current behavior and advise if there are any specific reasons the Remove from Target does not function similarly to the Add or to LrC's implementation.

Add internal ticket.

You've likely clicked the "Don't show again" option at some point in the past. This is what I see when I try to reproduce what you are describing.

Moving to Discussions.

Thanks for the quick reply! But also, yikes,, any idea how I can reset this and verify?

Unfortunately this still seems like a bug.

The behavior with the ADD to target is a non-blocking popup notification.

If the original behavior with REMOVE was a modal blocking dialog/confirm box then I can understand why I might have clicked don't show again, but why doesn't REMOVE get the non-blocking popup notification behavior? Why the asymmetry?

In my experience "set as target" is basically a variation on picking but we get a toggle key (that adds or removes) instead of explicit pick/unpick. Again in my experience it's easy to lose track of the status of whether the current photo is in the target album or not and getting that explicit feedback as to what just happened is helpful. And the asymmetry is confusing. I can't help but wonder if maybe my input just wasn't registered. I find myself having to stare at the numeric count on the target album which is tedious (and has non-trivial latency compared to try to do fairly fast-paced culling/sorting)

I found the reset warnings setting and I was able to confirm your behavior.

I wish this could be kept as a bug.

Someone applied the dialog from the explicit remove from album to this scenario and it doesn't fit. There is no reasonable customer worry that a photo is going to be deleted from all photos because they hit "add to target" so the whole warning dialog slowdown was just wasting time.

There's no good reason that the "add to target" process initiated by the T key should get a transitory popup confirmation and that the "remove from target" process initiated by the T key shouldn't get that same transitory popup (feedback). The fact that instead we get a choice between a modal confirm box and nothing, just ain't right.

Wow, I wish I could express myself quickly, but I just want to circle back to why I think my original post was in fact a bug.

The smallest bug fix that addresses my complaint is as follows:

When the user clicks "don't show again" on the modal dialog box the behavior should be to display a transitory popup just like in the "ADD to target case". Not doing this is the bug. The "don't show again" is for the modal dialog box. The transitory popup is part of the behavior.

If I can be ambitious I'd argue that the modal dialog for this is a mistake in the first place, but I'd settle for the smaller change and to re-iterate, current behavior with "don't show again" is a bug.

What an incredibly dissappointing response.

The acknowledgement UI issue and the "Add to Target Album sometimes removes photos from target album" are not the same thing. They are related but not duplicates. After starting this discussion about the UI issue I started thinking about the feature and I thought I could file a more focused and clear bug about related behavior.

My mistake for thinking that Adobe might consider a succint and clear bug report of the form: "ui element does the precise opposite of what it says" to be a valuable piece of information. But instead immediately deleted.

But yeah, consider "commands should do what they say/say what they do" a "feature request"

Thanks!

I checked in with LrC as well.

None of the bugs exist in LrC. It shows the non-modal popup in all cases and it adjusts the menu command text based on the current state to properly indicate the action that will occur.

It seems like LrC has a somewhat more complicated multiselect model and I didn't fully characterize the behavior but at a glance it seemed fairly reasonable. Probably most people would not find the corner cases of multiselect too useful.
