Question

XMP sidecar files

Hi All,

When exporting Raw files from lightroom CC, I can't stop lightroom from also exporting XMP sidecar profiles, can someone please help.

I have gone into catalog settings, Metadata and unticked the "automatically write changes into XMP", however the xmp files still come out when I export, is there another setting I need to change?

Thank you for your help.

If raw files are exported from Lightroom then XMP files will automatically be included to contain the changes/adjustments that have been made to that image. Otherwise, all that would be exported would be the original image with no adjustments whatsoever. Raw files cannot be written to, they are read-only.

If you 'Export', Lightroom-Classic would assume you want the editing included in metadata (the XMP file).

If you do not want the XMP, simply 'Show in Finder/File Explorer' where you can copy&paste the original raw file anywhere you want.
