Question

How does the Overdrive parameter work?

I'm a researcher from the University of Florida, and we're thinking of using Mixamo to create animations for a children's storytelling project. One thing we were hoping to learn though, is how the Overdrive parameter works; as in, what aspects of the animation does it actually change? We would have to report on this in our study, so if anybody has any insight, it would be greatly appreciated!

it works with the blendshapes which are now turned off unless you have your character pre-saved to CC library

what overdrive actually does is animation case specific for example

lets say the character smilles after making a jump... how big is that smile?

other adjustments;

  • in place = about half the animations have this option and about half of those actually work
  • arm distance = move the arms \ hands out more away from the body... helps stop clipping
  • head turn \ tilt, eye move = part of blendshape and now only for people that saved their characters before Adobe pulled the plug... these are independent of other animations

So crazy that you are the defacto support, even though you aren't an employee, just like the Fuse even here on the Mixamo forum.  The product they are supporting.  I suspected the questions I asked about what rigged characters might be supported in the future wouldn't be answered.
