Final update (should have waited until the end to type up just one reply):
Creating the PSUserconfig txt file and moving it to the required folder works for me at the moment (even when opening PS Beta from the external monitor).
I just read the rest of your email where you asked about color profiles; Nothing for the macbook (I just use the sRGB preset); But for the external monitor, it's a custom profile created after calibrating with a calibrite colorchecker, so not sure if it will be any help to you.
@Erin26 or to anyone else who might be seeing the issue, I found the workaround, or could be one of the things causing the quirk:
I have my macbook attached to an external monitor (ASUS PA279) when I work. I usually work off my external monitor, so whenever I shut down and reopen PS Beta, the window will automatically open on the external monitor.
When I reinstalled PS Beta, I moved the PS Beta window to the macbook screen so I can copy see Erin's instructions on getting the log (my browser is in my external monitor) while I do it on the macbook. Before I did that though, I tried opening one of my RAW files in Adobe Bridge, and then click OPEN to work in PS Beta, and surprise, it opened! I moved the window to the external monitor and it didn't crash (although I didn't do extensive testing like doing extra layers on the thing, etc). I just basically Quit the program, and wanted to try if it was just a one-off.
I double clicked the RAW file again on Adobe Bridge to open on PS Beta (where the window would open on the external monitor now as this was where I quit), and like before, it would open Camera RAW just fine, but when I clicked OPEN on Camera RAW so I can do further edits in Photoshop, it just crashed again just like what I was experiencing before.
So I open PS Beta again and moved the window back to my macbook, and tried opening a RAW file again, and it worked just fine again.
Not sure if that would help you folks at Adobe troubleshoot this issue (or this is something else), but that was what was happening to me so far. At least I have a workaround to be able to use 25.0 and Generative Fill for the moment.
I was about to paste the whole code then realized that I downgraded to 24.7 in order to be able to work lol. Give me a minute to update to 25.0 again and paste the info required. Thanks.
I’ve collected your name from another thread on this message board, as I believe you are having a separate issue regarding opening documents on your Mac. Please note that a fix has been checked in and will be available in the upcoming beta release, or the one after that.
In the meantime, we still need to track down the cause of this issue so I would greatly appreciate it if you could provide the following information:
Launch PS. Go to Help > System Info and paste the contents of the dialog into this post. NOTE: Some of you have done this in the previous thread so there’s no need to do it again)
Go to your machine’s Displays, in Settings, and let us know what Color Profile you are using.
Create a .txt file called, “PSUserConfig.txt” Paste this line of text into the file: ACE_CM_FOR_HDR_Display 0 Place this .txt file in your Adobe Photoshop (Beta) Settings folder. (It’s located Macintosh HD > Users > Username > Library > Preferences). Are you still crashing?
If possible, please provide an image that’s causing the crash.
The beta build that has the fix will include the following preference in Settings > Tech Preview > Precise color management for HDR displays.
If you see this setting, please remove the config file from your settings folder.
