Photoshop Beta replaces regular Photoshop

New Here ,
Jun 01, 2023 Jun 01, 2023

Hello,

Today I installed the Photoshop beta version, no problem whatsoever during installation. I tried the new features in it, specially de AI features, those work great and are trully amazing. But then I tried to use the regular, the actual released version of Photoshop and it opened up the beta. I tried it several times, even restarting the system. Has the PS beta replaced the regular version? It shouldn´t be that way, it is a beta after all.

Hi @Ariel26434509bp8p its not an issue. Windows will always open the most recent version of an application.
You have control over this however:

Hi @Ariel26434509bp8p check your applications folder again. The Beta does not overwrite the public released versions of Photoshop.

Hello Kevin, thankl you for answering. I have checked as you said, and indeed, there are two separate installations. But the direct acces of the regular version gets overwritten by the one of the beta. This is an issue that should be addressed. Thanks!

I have the same issue. The Beta version replaced the regular one. Even when I open the icone of the regular one, it opens the beta one. I went into the program files location, I see 2 folders (Beta and not Beta) but both Photoshop application files launch the Beta version.... I'm not sure what to do ?

Maybe I do not understand. I'm not talking about opening a picture or a file and selecting if Beta or not Beta Photoshop will open. I'm just talking about opening Photoshop and being able to start either the Beta one or the regular one. At the moment, whatever I do , the Beta comes up....

Are you opening from the Application icon or the quick start?

So I uninstalled the Beta. I then could not find any Photoshop icon in the start up menu. I went into the Program file folder : I had the 2 folders : Beta and 2023 but both where empty except for a "Required" and "Presets" folders. No exe file that I could use. Strange enough when I go into the uninstall WIndow tool I see Photoshop 2023 that can be uninstalled. But I have no idea how to run it. I tried to open it as well in Creative Cloud Desktop where Photoshop appears (updated). When I click Open, nothing opens....

Finally, after unistalling both Beta and 2023. I re install and now I have both icons and they launch 2023 and Beta correctly. Thank you very much for your support.
One final question : is this normal if I can not run both at the same time ? If I try to launch Beta while 2023 is already open it just goes to the open 2023 Photoshop active window. Same vice versa. Not an issue but want to be sure this is normal

On Windows you can only run one app version at a time - you have to quit the beta to run 2023 and vice versa.
