Photoshop Beta uninstalled itself and I lost all my actions

So, photoshop beta just uninstalled itself. No problem, it's a beta, I get that. But I've been working on the beta for a few months now and have built some really complicated actions that I've been using a lot. Now they're just gone. Is there a way to recover these somehow???

You always need to save out actions, brushes and so on. Until you do, they are just stored as temporary items in the Preferences folder.

Photoshop doesn't spontaneously uninstall itself, so I don't know what happened there. But if you still have the Settings folder intact in your user account, you can get it back if that version is still availble (by reinstalling).

Do you see Photoshop Beta availabe in the Creative Cloud? I don't see it in there anymore and it's definitely uninstalled. I checked the application folder and it's completely gone. I did not uninstall it.

So I hear what you're saying and I definitely have lots of backups. My most recent just happens to be from Nov 7th and I've updated it quite a bit since then. Honestly, it seems like it would be ideal if adobe had it do a self-backup of all customization so it could just be moved. Definitely there are challenges in moving between the Beta version and regular ones.

I've checked the system folders and in all versions (including Beta), they are all empty. I'm not sure why that would be the case, but they are certainly empty.

I never had a beta installed, and I don't know what the current beta version is. The whole point of a beta is that it is the latest version - otherwise it has no purpose, since it's for testing the very latest functions - so maybe there's some special rules for old beta versions. I just don't know.

For regular production versions, if you have auto-updating on, and "remove old versions" checked, I suppose it could happen that the new version failed to install - perhaps because the system requirements aren't met - but the old version is still removed.

The point is that you control all this yourself. None of this happens if you don't want it to.

@Trevor - Lemon Lime

I've moved your post from Photoshop to Photoshop Beta for you since you are asking about the Beta.

As @D Fosse said, you need to save Action Sets (folders), Brushes, et cetera every time you make a change to them.

Jane
