Photoshop v 24.5 and beta of 24.6 work terribly slow on my system (Windows 10)

Both 24.6 beta as well as regular 24.5 versions work terribly slow on my system. Whenever I try to do anything in the main window (i. e. draw something, zoom in/out, etc.) I observe increasing CPU usage that even goes up to 100%. I love the new functions you introduced recently but the program lags like a fat turtle now.

Here I attach more detailed information about my system. I'm aware that my CPU (ultramobile Intel Core i5) and GPU (NVIDIA GeForce 940MX) are pieces of... whatever you call it but, nonetheless, Photoshop (both beta and regular version) used to work perfectly fine and smooth before recent updates.

What I also observed is that beta has some difficulty when trying to save its settings file (a window with error message pops up sometimes when I close the app).

Recent update for stable version 24.6 seems to have fixed the issue, Photoshop again works as fast and stable as it used to. However, beta version 24.7 (which I use a lot because of generative fill) still works like a piss of crab.

I had to roll back my version to 24.5 as the new 24.6 version crashed every time I opened Photoshop and tried to do anything. It crashed and I tried to close a recovered file and it crashed again, over and over. Tried everything in the book to get it working. I did have GPUDeny on because of the Text-update bug when trying to place text on a graphic, but that had been working fine for months, so it for sure was this latest update that killed my Photoshop. It's an unstable, unusable mess! Pretty sad when pirated versions work better! I'm on a pretty decent laptop Dell Precision 7560 i9-11855M @ 3.20 Ghz w/ 32gigs of ram w/ RTX A3000 GPU.

Hi @LtDarkstar55

I'm not seeing any submitted crash reports from you in our system. If you haven't done so already, please submit all Crash Reports along with your email address: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/submit-crash-reports.html That will help us diagnose the crash.

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

I did submit the crash reports, but they are not under this account I'm commenting on, they are under my company account. I already rolled back Photoshop to the previous version.

If I understand correctly, my old GPU causes slowness when performing some of the most basic operations? I mean, things like zooming in/out, making manual selections, drawing simple lines...

What's more, I observe no issues when using more advanced functions (such as Neural Filters) that make heavy use of GPU.

The guy who talks to you justified without having excuses . It's not possible for version 24 to run fine and version 25 to be crap. Something is happening. Computers are OK. Something with the Adobe....

Hi @Radio Paranormalium a couple of things to note that will effect your experience in PS:

1. You are correct that your 940MX is going to cause slowness. The recommended minimum is 2000 ops/sec and your 940 clocks in at 877. This alone will cause issue with newer installs as PS becomes more GPU dependent for processing.

2. Your scratch disks list 2 - F drive with 12.5 GB and C drive with ~52 GB.

Remove the F drive as 12.5 is useless - PS uses 20 GB just to startup. I would also increase your C drive space to 100 GB to give you enough resources to work in PS for longer time without issue.
