Ps (Beta) won't start (Shipping version starts instead)

I'm running Win10 (current update) on a robust Dell desktop PC and I was using Ps (Beta) every few days or so, but now when I either click on the Ps (Beta) icon on my Task Bar or click on Ps (Beta) in the Adobe Creative Cloud app (which does indeed show that it's installed) or double-click on the Ps (Beta) .exe file the shipping version of Ps (24.6) starts instead.  I believe 24.6 was updated a few days ago, and I wonder if that has anything to do with this?  Any and all help would be appreciated.

Follow-up:  Adobe Creative Cloud updated this morning and I can now run PS (Beta), so problem seemingly solved, but for my own edification if anyone has an explanation it would be much appreciated.
