Alt+Click to capture a color while using a Photoshop Brush creates the new color as the background

I often use Photoshop's soft round brush to add a bit of color to my image. I hold down the Option key, then click on a color in the image that I want to sample, and continue painting with the newly sampled color. As of the first release of PS 2024, the sampled color is stored as the background color instead of the foreground color. This is quite exasperating as I have to touch the letter "X" to switch the sampled color from the background to the foreground. I use this color sampling shortcut quite often and can't understand how this shortcut went from working correctly for the last 8 years to being reversed in 2024. Please fix this! I'm using Mac Studio M1 with the latest Mac OS.

One needs to look closely, as the selection box is subtle.

Go to Window>Color and click on the Foreground color chip so now the sample color using the Option key should go to the Foreground.
