Could not complete the Quick Export as PNG command because of a program error.

Every time I click 'Quick Export' or 'Export As' I'm met with an error message;

Could not complete the Quick Export as PNG command because of a program error.

 

I currently can't export any of my work.

 

The error is present on both Photoshop 2023 and Photoshop Beta.

I have updated both. Reinstalled both. The issue is still present.

    I've been having this issue for months - every time I try to export an image using Export As or Quick Export As PNG, I get this error message:

    • Could not complete the Export As command because of a program error.
    • Could not complete the Quick Export as PNG command because of a program error.

     

    I see that there are many other people posting on this forum, for several months with the same issue, but I'm not seeing any solutions that are working for anyone, for example:

     

    I've read through all these threads, and see no working solutions.  

     

    How could it be that such a basic feature as being able to export images from Photoshop is broken, for so many people, for so much time (at least 9 months), and Adobe hasn't fixed this issue yet? This is unacceptable. A lot of people are paying a lot of money for this software.  Adobe, please fix this issue ASAP.

      Hi, were you able to get this resolved? I'm having the same issue on my computer.

      I'm not, no.

       

      But I do have the Google Drive equivalent. Although this is a recent issue (has previously worked with Google Drive Sync running/enabled).

        This error message happens as soon as I click 'Quick Export as PNG' or 'Export As...', it doesn't let me get any further.

         

        I'm just trying to export my design as a PNG to my local drive.

         

        Can't seem to see a PNG option under Save As (or Save for Web at all).

          Do you happen to have Dropbox sync on your Mac?

            I'm curious why you ask about Dropbox? i've had this issue for several months and i have a dropbox sync on my Mac. does that interfere with the permissions? thanks

            @dlavarado_4263 yes it does - we've seen a lot of posts over time regarding permission issues and having a synced location to Dropbox specifically has caused issues.

            that screenshot isn't helping us diagnose the issue. What are you trying to export and where are you trying to export to? And have you tried Save As or Save for Web? Either of those can save .png
