Keyboard shortcut for foreground color picker in photoshop doesn't work

I always set a keyboard shortcut for the foreground color picker in Photoshop to accelerate my professional workflow. After the update, I found I could no longer call out the foreground colour picker by pressing the key I set up for this function.

I couldn't revert to the older version as it seems that Adobe deleted all of them. This error completely interrupts my workflow, and I feel very frustrated. Has anyone encountered the same problem? Is there any solution to it?

All - this is fixed in the latest Beta version so expect a resolution with the next PS general release.

Yes, currently having this problem. I set mine to the Z key, really frustrating that it isn't working now :/. I have tried reassigning it and relaunching. Doesn't work!

What exact version of Photoshop? What version of Windows? Bug reports require basic information. For example, on Intel Mac 12.7.5 and Ps 25.9.1 this works without issue.

This could be scripted with a custom keyboard shortcut applied to the installed script as a workaround.

#target photoshop

// Foreground Color Picker.jsx
// Use false as the parameter for the Background Color Picker

app.showColorPicker(true);

If you have the color picker as a tab on your tab groups (so it's open at all times), try closing it.

I downgraded to 25.5 and closed my color picker tab, and suddenly it works now.

Yes, since my update to Photoshop 25.11.0 earlier in July, my keyboard shortcuts to bring up foreground and background color pickers have stopped working (on a Macbook M1, Sonoma 14.5). For me: Foreground = A, Background = Q and there are no conflicts in the shortcuts that I can find. However, other custom keyboard shortcuts continue to work.

If anyone knows how to fix this, I will be very grateful. Otherwise, Adobe should address this in the near future.

So annoying. Today I updated to version 25.11.0 and the shortcut for the foreground color picker stopped working, I always used it with the D key (without conflict) from a wacom radial menu. On the bright side the update solved the error message "Face Expression File is bad or corrupted" that I got from the previous update, but this shortcut issue is more harmful to the workflow.

At least there is the scripted workaround until this is addressed.

It is unbelievable that we need to install third-party scripts and look ourselves for solutions instead of having a proper update from Adobe.

Don't use AppleScript Editor for ExtendScript!

Did you read the link to my blog?

You have to install the script, restart Photoshop and then assign or reasssign the keyboard shortcut.

Ok, if double-clicking works, then the script would appear to be saved correctly.

Is the script listed under File > Scripts?

Can you execute the script using File > Scripts > Browse?

Can you post screenshots of the Script menu contents and the Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts where you assigned to the Script?
