To recreate: open up a design or create a new one. Press T or click on your text tool. Create a Text field... type what ever you want using a font with multiple font faces. Press Cntl Enter to commit your text. Press V or select your move tool ... press arrow keys to move around your new text layer. Now, assuming you used a font with multiple faces. Click on the arrow of the dropdown to select a different font face. and click on a new one .... no click anywhere on your design with your still active move tool. You should / used to be able to now press your arrow keys to move around your text again but if you notice the font face picker is not deactivated and press arrows will just change your font face however the behavior in all previous version was that clicking on your design will deselect the face field, as you can see by trying the same experiment with font size drop down.

What OS version?
Have you installed all the Photoshop CC updates (you should be on 14.2.1)?

Hi Jason,

What you are encountering is a focus bug. It does happen in 14.1.2 but will be resolved in the next release of CC.

Until then, to resolve the problem, press Enter after you select your font and focus will leave the control and return to the application in general.

Thanks,
David

Ahh you're right... enter does the trick for now. My method for the past... zillion versions was just to click the canvas area which would deselect - i'm glad it's being fixed but knowing about enter makes me feel a bit happier so thank you 🙂
