P: Color ball when switching selection tools using shift-w - M1 macOS 12 Monterery

When shifting between the 'select subject tool' and 'quick select' tool using Shift W, PS hangs (spinning color ball) for about 9 seconds.  Repeatable and only between those two tools.  Video attached.

So, with Object Selection tool selected, when switching away from it to any other tool, it causes Photoshop to lag (the spining beachball) for 2-3 seconds. Every time. Very strange issue, I cannot find anything about it anywhere on google, yet my friend with the same machine is experiencing the same issue. Anyone out there have this symptom?

Hello, I have a small but annoying problem with the object selection tool.

As soon as I have selected the "Object Selection Tool" and want to switch to any other tool, the system waiting wheel appears for about 1-2 seconds. Everything works smoothly in the opposite direction. The "Object finder" option is deactivated.

If someone has the same problem, then I would at least know that it is not due to my settings.

Is this happening just with "Object Selection Tool"? Did you try doing any troubleshooting so far? 

Try to rest the particular tool once, if that doesn't work reset all tools.

After doing the above steps if the issue persists, you may try resetting Photoshop preferences back to defaults and check if that helps. Here's the article for the steps: https://adobe.ly/3ceal5t

Thanks for your fast reply. I tried all of those steps before, but it didn't work out. I just tried it again to be sure, but there is no improvement. Furthermore, I recognized that anytime I'm using the "Object Selection Tool" (which is pretty amazing, thanks Adobe for that) to make a selection the waiting wheel from macOS appears for some seconds as well. 

It just happens with the "Object Selection Tool" and only one way. Anytime, I'm switching from any tool to the ""Object Selection Tool"". All other tools are fine as far as I know, and I tried a few. 

I attached a video which shows the problem.

Thanks for repeating the steps again and for the video as well. Can you check if disabling "graphic processor" (Edit> Preferences > Performance) makes any difference in this case?

I just recognized another problem, same like the other, just with the"Color Picker". If I want to change the color, the wheel appears. And at the same time I found a solution. It's  not really a solution, but maybe it helps you to figuring out what wrong. 

If I hide photoshop and come back, I can use the "Object Selection Tool" or the "Color Picker" once, without waiting for the wheel. But only one click. As soon I click in one of the mentioned tools the second time, there is the wheel again.
