P: Convert to Video Timeline option missing - Apple M1 devices

I am not able to select anything but "Create Frame Animation" in the Timeline. I am trying to create a Video Timeline, but not using Frame animation. This option isn't in the bottom left or top right of the Timeline menu.

I have tried resetting my preferences, uninstalling and re-installing, creating a new document, and converting all layers to smart objects, and none of those have worked. I have a macbook pro with macOS Big Sur version 11.2.3 with an Apple M1 chip.

Thank you for the help!

... The button in the lower left corner to change from "Create Frame Animation" to "Create Video TimeLine".

I work on the system macOS Monterey, MacBook Air (M1, 2020)

Although video is not currently supported with the M1 chip, it is a known issue and Adobe has said it is coming. In the meanwhile, you will need to run PS through Rosetta (Intel).

I think it's time to lock this thread because nobody is going to read 540 messages looking for the answer - and to put up a pinned thread with the answer everyone needs. The answer - and it is marked correct multiple times - is "Hi You need to run Photoshop under Rosetta, more info https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/photoshop-for-apple-silicon.html"

Hi TSN,

Most of these posts are starting out as new individual threads and are getting merged into this one very long thread by Adobe Staff. If a thread has been marked correct when it was solo then it does not lose the marking during the merge. Locking this thread will not stop the merging that makes this thread so long — when Staff finds a related post, they will merge it to this one. They say it is easier for them to keep track of the issue.

When Adobe has a fix, they will announce it here and everyone will see it.

Users may want to comment something else after merging original threads they started to the official, so locking this one would made they had to start distinct threads again each time they find their threads belong to locked.

Hi,

There is no option for me to create a video timeline on Photoshop 2022 23.2.2.

I have tried the Get info > Open with rosetta method but I don't seem to have that option therefore I've found no solution to this...

I hope someone can help!

Thanks in advance 🙂

My coworker solved this for me! If you go to the Creative Cloud app and click the "..." next to "Open" for Photoshop and select "Open Intel", everything works normally.

Did you select "all apps" first?

Open CC - Select all Apps (top left corner) - scroll to Photoshop and click 3 dots — should expand with "open intel" available

If not, I'd say to maybe update your CC app....Maybe uninstall and reinstall.

In finder you will see a folder for photoshop.  This is not the applcation, therefore you cannot open in Rosetta.  Click the folder to open and right click the app for info and checkbox for open in rosetta.

Bom dia, amigos!

Obrigada! 🙏

Straight to the point! All the time we need to find a way around all sorts of shortcomings from Adobe, it's so disappointing!

Adobe - What is this Rosetta work-around????? My company pays for an expensive subscription and all of the features don't work? This is unacceptable - when are you fixing this issue with Photoshop?

@KimKeesler said:

"What is this Rosetta work-around?"

"Rosetta 2 enables a Mac with Apple silicon to use apps built for a Mac with an Intel processor."

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211861

There are a few issues with Photoshop and Apple's new Silicon. If you need to use these features, you will need to run Photoshop 2022 through Rosetta. See this page for details:

Goodness. How did you figure this out? I was about to start tearing my hair (this is number 5 of the big problems I've had with CC on my new M1 and the only one with an easy fix). Thank you!!
