When exporting artboards to PDF, the files are coming out very large, ex. 13.5mb for 3 email banners? This didn't happen w/2017. Is there a way to adjust the PDF output?

Thanks. I can reproduce.

Here is a workaround:

1. Quit Photoshop

2. Back-up these two files which are located in the Photoshop application folder at the following location:

  • Presets/Scripts/ArtBoards To PDF.jsx
  • Presets/Scripts/ArtboardExport.inc

3. Download the zip file from here and double-click it to unzip: https://adobe.ly/2kc2snD

4. Place the two files in the same folder as above Presets/Scripts/  (You may be asked to provide your administrator password to replace the files)

5. Restart Photoshop

I'm having the same issue! I'm exporting a brochure that's coming out out to around 800 mb as opposed to the 15 mb file I used to get in the 2017 version. Any help would be much appreciated

Hi Jeffrey,

I was unable to unzip the file you posted. I tried unzipping by double-click, by command line and by Unarchiver. However, all attempts yielded a CPZG/ZIP loop.

I encountered the same problem Julie!

I would love to figure this out because it is a pain to export as jpegs and make a pdf in Acrobat.

How the hell does Adobe manage to break working features?

After my update the artboards to pdf exports files to be 70mb in size, instead of the usual 1.5mb. T

I am having the same issue.

A 31,408 KB file exported to 1,381 KB file (jpg set to 6 - I believe) in Photoshop CC 2017, it Photoshop CC 2018 it exports to 16,861 KB and Photoshop CC 2019 to 16,861 KB - that's like 1200% increase...?

It makes a lot of my files to large to even email.

I have had to keep the old version of Photoshop CC 2017 to just handle creating PDF Files.

On the same thread, why must I create artboards to export to PDF?

I used photoshop 2015.5 to export artboards to pdf and that made the files sizes considerably smaller.

As stated for Adobe PDF too, working with PDF Files in the Adobe universe is painful.
Please work on the UI and pdf filesizes in photoshop with exporting artboards. Why does it even need a special Export feature for this? Why can't I save Artboards as Pages to a Photoshop PDF in the save dialog? Why can't it use presets as in every other adobe tool too?

In the end I have to buy and use third party tools like pdf squeezer (for mac).
One click, and it shrinks 18 MB photoshop pdf to 600 KB! Without lowering the quality!!

Adobe please work on your UI and make features consistent between tools.

This is great, can you please get this fix into Photoshop?

I had to search for a solution to this issue 3 years later because the script in Photoshop 2020 hasn't been updated.

This super simple demonstration went from an insane 370MB PDF down to 2.7MB with this fix.
