This is an ongoing issue it seems so moderators may want to move this post to an existing thread if applicable.

I continue to have graphics issues in V20.0.2. Since pictures are worth a thousand words, let me sum this up with photos:

I am masking the edge of a cloud layer against the background. The cursor is near the bottom of the screen and is in the process of masking the edge of the cloud. I'm using a soft brush (it seems this always happens while using the brush tool but no specific brush), and this is what is happening:

This (below) is what it should look like:

Here is my system and PS info:

If you have further questions, please let me know. I can get rid of the problem (I think) by switching off the Graphics Acceleration, BUT that's not an option for me. I use a lot of things that require that option. My drivers are completely up to date as is PS. My workaround right now is to turn off the layer then turn it back on, but this is both time consuming and disruptive. I really hope Adobe can start addressing some of these issues soon. Thanks.

Glenn

Hi Glenn,
Thank you again for your cooperation and sharing your wonderful work with us.  I was able to reproduce this issue in v20.0.2 on my MacBook Pro.  And as I anticipated, the issue was addressed and fixed as I cannot reproduce the issue in v20.0.3.  You should have gotten a notification in your Creative Cloud App for the v20.0.3 update today.  So when you have a chance, please update to 20.0.3 and turn off Preferences -> Performance -> Legacy Compositing.  Please let us know if that still d...

Hi Glenn,
We can definitely start addressing this issue.  We're sorry for what you're experiencing.  I know this is most likely a graphics issue, but can you also try enabling Preferences -> Performances -> Legacy Compositing?  Please let me know if that helps or doesn't make any difference.

Sincerely,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for your swift reply. I will do as suggested and report back. This issue does seem to be an on-again-off-again thing, but I suspect that is more to do with a certain specific set of conditions rather than it being an intermittent problem. Anyway, I'll do as you ask and get back to you ASAP. Thanks again.

It would appear as though going to the Legacy Composite engine does solve the issue. I worked on the same image and same mask as I did earlier when I had the problem. Now, I did select the Legacy Compositing option and then shut PS down and restarted it to be sure the option was in effect, and in the past that has sometimes caused (or appeared to cause) the issue to go away. I'll continue to work with it in this way as long as I don't lose functionality with the various tools that the Graphics Accelerator enables as I'm doing a project for a client now that requires those options. I will report back in a day or two though regardless and let you know if there has been a recurrence or not. Thanks again.

Awesome!  Thanks for trying Legacy Compositing for us.  I'll let our engineering team know about this issue.  To help our efforts, would you mine sharing the PSD and your Help -> System Info?  That will greatly help us find the root cause faster.  Can you email the info and file to me (sender@adobe.com) or dropbox if the PSD is very large.

Cheers,
Andrew

P.S. We do have PS 20.0.3 coming out shortly.  I'd be very curious if this update with Legacy Compositing turned off resolves your this issue.

It's sent. Hopefully it comes through ok as the image is somewhat large for email.

Thanks again.

Thank YOU for all your efforts! Very much appreciated. I just did a fairly thorough test of the brush feature and yes, the issue does seem resolved (I deselected the Legacy Compositing and restarted PS just to be certain that the change took effect). It seems to work perfectly now. If I find any anomalies down the road in this area I'll let you know, but I'd say at this point things are fixed and working 100%. Also of note (from another thread), the Vanishing Point Filter also is now working 100%. You guys have been busy 🙂 . So many thanks again. Much appreciated.
