P: Neural filters only work with GPU disabled

The title says it all - with my GPU enabled, I get errors when I use almost any neural filter (old or new), e.g "This filter has been temporarily disabled due to an error" then later "The graphics processor has encountered an unrecoverable error" (see attachments).  I have to shut down PS at this point since it won't allow me to do anything else.

I disabled the GPU and had no error messages with several neural filters.

Even PS says that my GPU is compatible, so what is happening makes no sense.

I did try some of the suggestions on other posts such as deleting the plugin data folder, but to no avail. The only thing that works is disabling the GPU.

If you leave the GPU on but go to Preferences > Technology Previews... and check "Disable Native Canvas" - then restart Photoshop. Does the problem still occur?

I did what you suggested and there is some improvement. I used the
Landscape Mixer filter and I was able to apply one of the presets. As soon
as I moved one of the sliders in that filter or tried a second filter, I
got the same error message that "We've temporarily disabled this filter
because of an error".
When I cancelled out of the Neural filters, I went back to the normal PS
window, so that is an improvement. When I then tried to use the Camera Raw
filter, I got the Camera Raw error "the graphics processor has encountered
an unrecoverable error", and that "GPU acceleration has been disabled".
However I was able to continue using the Camera Raw filter, so that is
better. I was also able to use the Neural filters without issues, but that
was expected since GPU acceleration was off.
The improvement is that the error messages did not result in PS crashing -
I was able to continue with processing in PS. So some progress has been
made.
Thanks for your help, but the problem hasn't been solved.
I may have given you the wrong GPU; I believe I said NVidia Geforce GTX
1660, when it should be 1650.

Camera Raw has a separate control for GPU enablement under Preferences > Camera Raw > Performance. So if it Camera Raw disabled the GPU - that's where it would change the setting.

I'm not quite sure what you are saying.
On further investigation, if I open a raw file then apply the Camera Raw
filter, there are no issues, and no error messages. If I then try the
Neural filters (Landscape mixer), I may get one preset to work, but if I
undo then try another preset, I get the "temporarily disabled this filter"
error message. What is really odd though is that if I cancel out of the
Neural filters, then go back in, I can choose different presets and they
work with no error message! I did this a couple of times, and was able to
choose several different presets with no error messages. I also applied the
Camera Raw filter again, then the Neural filters with no issues.
In addition, I tried using a psd file and a dng file to see if that would
matter - same result, no errors.
I checked Preferences, and under Camera Raw saw the error message that
"Camera Raw graphics acceleration is not supported by your system" - see
attached screenshot. Exactly what does this mean? My system more than meets
the minimum requirements and maybe even the recommended requirements.
I closed PS and opened it again. Under Camera Raw preferences, I now see
"Your system automatically supports full acceleration" - see second
attached screenshot. I could use the Camera Raw filter with no problems.
However, when I opened the Neural filters, I got the temporarily disabled
error message once again. On reopening the Camera Raw filter, I got the
message about disabling graphics acceleration again. So it seems that it is
the Neural filters causing the problem with the Camera Raw filter.
I hope this information is helpful.

Well that didn't work!
I opened a photo, made a few changes in Camera Raw, then applied a Neural
filter (Landscape mixer-Winter scene). It would not allow me to undo the
change and when I chose Cancel l I got the screenshot attached - both the
original photo and the one with the winter scene showed. I was able to
close the photo.
The only thing that seems to work is when the GPU is disabled in Camera Raw
preferences -Performance. Then I can use any Neural filter and undo many
times with no errors.

Can you try updating to 23.1? It has some fixes to make it rely on the CPU when the GPU doesn't work correctly.

It appears to be working well now. I tried many of the Landscape Mixer
presets, and the sliders, with no crashes.
