P: Patch tool moving on canvas selection draws incorrectly

I just noticed it now, it maybe temporary glitch or something that's been there for a while, I have no idea for how long this was present.

when I select area with patch tool and move the selection around, the shape of the patch tool shown through the target area is rentangle rather than my original selection.

Is this normal behavior? Or something I haven't seen it cause I was not paying attention all these time?

@CShubert and @Mark.Dahm is there any update on a fix for this issue, this was originally reported in June and it's now September, and there's also this issue https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-bugs/object-selection-very-slow-response-photoshop-23-5/idi-p/13144777 which was incorrectly reported as been fixed.

Why does it take Adobe so long to fix issues with their software, we're talking months here and when Adobe do bring out a fix they break something else, it's a never ending story of fix and break it at the same time.

@EVRN IT thank you for the sysinfo. A couple things stand out, one is you have less than 8gb of RAM allocated for Ps, the other is you should not set the memory for Ps to use at over 70%.

I have recently been having a problem with the Patch tool - I select the area that I want to patch, click and drag to another area, but after a second or so the area that I want to patch is not previewed correctly when I move the mouse around. Normally the area you want to patch previews how it will look when you let go of the mouse.

Please see the screenshot which probably shows the issue better than I can explain it. This is from a screenshot taken before I let go of the mouse button and acurately shows what I can see when I try to patch.

This makes it nealy impossible to use the tool!

Dear All,

When I use my patch tool to select a piece and replace it with another piece in the image,
the path tool doesn't show the selection I need. The video shows the problem.

Photoshop reinstalled

The tool reset

Tried other images

Nothing helped, What to do? Thanks! Joris

I see it work fine in the video...patch tool working as you select an area, move the selection to that part you want to patch from. and it will move it to the area you selected first... but it will melt the round areas so you can use content aware move tool and choose the area you want to move over the wooden thing.
