P: Photoshop 23.2.2 Can't open/update vector smart object in Illustrator

Just today, I updated to macOS Monterey and now I am having problems opening vector smart objects in Photoshop files. If Illustrator is closed, when I double click the smart object (or choose edit contents) Illustrator will launch but the file will not open.

If Illustrator is open and I try to open the smart object, I get a Mac error window that says "The application "Adobe Illustrator 2022" can't be opened" with a -1703 error code.

I'm using Photoshop 23.2.1 and Illustrator 26.0.3, which I went back to after seeing the problem first occur in 26.1.

The computer is iMac Retina 5K, 27-inch 2019 | 3.6 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9 | macOS Monterey 12.3

Facing the same issue after monterey mac update. has this issue been solved yet. My work really depends on this feature i use it a lot.

I have the same issue, its been about 2 weeks now since the 1st complaint and still no proper solution.

PLEASE, Adobe! This is a serious problem. No idea why this is happening or how to fix. Wiped all and downgraded back to older versions of both Photoshop AND Illustrator. Problem continues.

Hi i'm working with this procedure

1.Drag to CC library

2.You can open it with the link of CC library, so fix it in this state

3.Perform property embedding after selecting a layer to return to the embedded object from the CC libler link after modification

Placing a smart object, vector file, from AI in PS. When i double click on the smart object layer in PS to open in AI i get this error message. please advise.

this workaround from @ogutuie is the best fix of anything mentioned here (for my workflow, at least) I frequently have multiple vector smart objects in PSD docs. did some testing and it works well. as suggested, i have created a shortcut to the temp file - i made an alias and added it to my sidebar for quick access (see scren grab). so i just double click the lyaer, ignore the error messgae, then go to the finder and click on my alias, and open the vector file. OBVIOUSLY we need this fixed, but for now at least I am not being kneecapped by this really annoying bug.
