P: Photoshop 23.3 opens images with everything in white color.

Hey!

Just updated my Photoshop to 23.3 version. And when I'm trying to open any RGB file - it opens with all layers colored in white color. Seems like RGB is not active at all.

IF I transfer it into CMYK - all good.

Windows 10 Home.

Below is the print screen of RGB file turned into CMYK. Cuz I was unable even to make a printscreen in RGB.

This should be fixed by the 23.3.1 update that just went out.

Try this: Go to Preferences > Performance... click Advanced Settings... and uncheck "GPU Compositing" - then restart Photoshop. Does the problem still occur?

Hi

Try unchecking GPU Compositing in preferences and restarting Photoshop to see if it helps

I have similar problem.  I can open and see my photo in the workspace, but when I go to duplicate the layer, the layer is white. Although the photo appears in the layers thumbnail for both the original and duplicate photo.  Just for fun I cut a section of the duplicate "white layer" in my workspace, no visible change to the workspace but in the layers panel I can see the thumbnail shows the cut I made.

I'm going to try davescm idea and let you all know.

Lydia and Craig

IT WORKED !!!

Thank you Davescm. I have been wasting so much time the last 3 days trying to figure it out.

Well Saif, this is good timing for me. I'm having a similar problem, but for me the layers go white as soon as you add a second layer.  Weird weird.  As soon as I'm done freeing up some hard drive space I'll try your fix.  I have a bunch of portraits that are a week overdue.  I just updated my photoshop and now this happens. Sigh.  it never ends, haha.

Is anyone else suddenly getting just a pure white panorama from automate/photomerge in the newest download of PS CC?  I was merging a turkey on snow with trees in the background, None of the original images are pure white.  They show up looking completely normally in their layers pallet thumbnails with completely normal looking masking thumbnails as well. but nothing other than white is showing on the main pano image.  Oddly enough the preview to resize it down shows the image but the resized image is also pure white.  I tried twice to upload the downsized file as a tif and this website throws this error    "

Correct the highlighted errors and try again.

  • The attachment's untitled_panoramawhite.tif content type (image/tiff) does not match its file extension and has been removed.

Yeah, changing to 16-bit did it for me, at first glance anyway.  Who woulda thought adding complexity would solve it?

People with unsupported GPU's are getting white screens for just about anything:

P: Photoshop 23.3 opens images with everything in white color.

Preferences > Performance > GPU Settings > Advanced > GPU compositing [ ] – uncheck/deactivate this new feature.

Hello everyone,

I had updated Photoshop two days before.

I've just started work and facing below issue:

'When I am transfering one image to another image it shows that layer has come, but it is not showing, like it is null object :('

Do you have the same problem?

I really appriciate if anybody can help me out in this error.

Thanks in advance!

@Pratik_Mevada

Perhaps this is another issue with:

Preferences > Performance > GPU Settings > Advanced > GPU compositing [ ] – uncheck/deactivate this new feature.

This helped me.
I was facing a white screen on any artwork while adding a text.
Now that i have deactivated this, it works but the whole artwork display is pixelated. Any idea what to do?

Hi

Try going into the Photoshop preferences by hitting Ctrl + K and disable GPU Compositing then restart Photoshop to see if it helps

Today I opened photoshop as always but I cant use any brush, when I paint nothing appears on the canvas but I see I'm painting beacuse is in the navigator, then when I disable the background layer I see the strokes I did but surrounded by a glitchy transparent efect.

I also reset the tools and reinstalled all the program but is still buggy

The latest version has put more of the compositing workload onto the GPU rather than the CPU. That is good news as it should help performance with the larger image files we use these days. However, it could expose existing bugs in GPU hardware or drivers.
You can try going to Preferences > Performance > GPU Settings >Advanced and unchecking GPU Compositing. Then close and restart Photoshop.

If that helps, try updating your GPU drivers to the latest versions designed for creative work (e.g NVidia release Studio drivers) and when updating use the clean install option. Once done you can try rechecking the GPU compositing option and restarting Photoshop.

They changed things up with this last update, messed a lot of people up.
Go to preferences, performance and Advanced Setting under the Graphics
Processor Settings and untick GPU composting. That should take care of it.
