P: Photoshop can't open, freezes on splash image, uses all of ram trying to open then crashes.

Perhaps try a thorough reset of Photoshop preferences?

(read this entire post before acting please)

Resetting restores Photoshop's internal preferences, which are saved when Photoshop closes.

If they become corrupt then various issues can occur.

3. Drag the entire Adobe Photoshop [Version] Settings folder to the desktop or somewhere safe for a back-up of your settings

    New preferences files will be created in their original location.

You may want to backup your settings and custom presets, brushes & actions before restoring Photoshop's preferences.

Before you reset your preferences

in case of future issues, I suggest you make a copy as Adobe may need one to check problematic references. 

Quit Photoshop.
Go to Photoshop's Preferences folder

  In the Finder, open the “Go” menu whilst holding down the Option (Alt) key.

Note for those on macOS:

Preference preservation is affected by macOS permissions,

you’ll need to allow Photoshop ‘Full Disk Access’ in your Mac OS Preferences/Security and Privacy

If that doesn't fix the issue:

Go to Preferences > Performance... and uncheck Multithreaded Compositing - and restart Photoshop.

Still hanging? 

Go to Preferences > Performance... click Advanced Settings... and uncheck "GPU Compositing" - then restart Photoshop. 

Do you still have problems?

It may even be time to reinstall Photoshop.

It’s recommended that you use the Adobe CC cleaner tool to remove all traces first.

(See above about preserving preferences though! It’s worth preserving them unless they are corrupted.)

Uninstall Photoshop BUT make sure to choose the option “Yes, remove app preference”.

Once that process finishes, start the installation process and look into the “Advanced Options”. Uncheck “Import previous settings and preferences” and choose to “Remove old versions”.

Hi, I hava a problem with opening PS. So it doesnt open and consuming over 100GB of RAM after few minutes of showing only the welcome window.

I’m having an issue where both Photoshop and Illustrator won’t open. They get stuck on the loading screen and never fully start up. The message that appears is “Plug-ins InnerLoops loaded.” I’ve tried waiting, but it never progresses past this point.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I’ve already tried restarting my computer and reinstalling the programs, but the problem persists.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I just run into this a few days ago out of blue. MacOS 14.5, 24GB RAM M2 CPU. PS run smoothly until now. Now it gets stuck on splash screen trying to load Halide bottlenecks. What I did so far:

1. Cleaned everything using Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner (more than once)

2. Reinstalled CC with PS (more than once)

3. Reinstalled older veraions of PS  (more than once)

4. Removed all PS preference files/folders

And I have NO Beta apps on my system and never had

Nothing helped.

Thoughts?

If you didn't install any beta software, you have a different problem. Please start a new topic and post a system report and information about what is not working.

You were warned that beta software is for testing only and that it may not be stable. DO NOT INSTALL BETA SOFTWARE IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THE RISKS. This is 100% on the users.
