P: Photoshop won't reopen after close - need to force quit - Windows

Photoshop 26.5 refuses to open half the time... It usually opens the first time I open it, but if I close it (which I do, often, because the file tabs keep getting stuck) and try to reopen without restarting computer, it will just add another task to the task list but won't show any other signs of launching.

Same issue here in October 2024.  I have to kill Photoshop in the Task Manager manually to close it.  Same for the past several updates.  Same with NVIDIA GPU and later with Intel ARC GPU.

Same here... it's taking 10 minutes or more to PS to launch. 

I did notice that PS 25 will shut down properly, however if you leave the program open for long periods of time and then exit th program, it will not shut down properly. Make sure once you're done with the app, to close the project first then exit the app. I also found that exiting the app using ALT+F4 works better than closing the app within the app. As far as PS 23, it's still an issue. I use the latest version of PS from now on and don't have any issues with closing as per the process in task manager.

The issue may have been fixed in 24.1, but it seems to have returned with 25.3.1.

@Andreas Mauritz update your GPU - its 8 mo out of date. Also make sure you are running studio drivers not gaming if available.
