When i'm working on a PSD and i go save a copy as JPG, all my layer comps suddenly have a ! next to them. Is this behavior intentional or a bug?

For what it's worth, you can totally avoid this bug by using File > Export > Export As.  I just checked it and that workflow does NOT set the flag after saving to JPG.

Hope that helps,
David

Thanks for looking at this, Jeffrey. This is actually a fairly significant issue for many of us since it's impossible to track whether the warning is valid or not. All too often we're running batch scripts on files and not paying any attention to the layer comp panel.

Also, this is only when saving a flat jpg out. If i save a flat copy using any other file type, the layer comps are unaffected.

I think it's an erroneous alert (PS flattens the images to save a JPEG). You can clear all all warnings to remove the alert. I'll log a bug and see if it's an easy fix.

This bug continues to persist in 2015.1.2

Photoshop 15.1 is CC 2014.1
Photoshop 16.1 is CC 2015.1

Which exact version of Photoshop are you using?

Whoops, sorry. This is with 15.1, but was present in 15+15.01, using File/Save As in OSX.10.5

Steps to repro:

-create new image
-add a few layer comps
-file/save as jpg

I just tried saving using other techniques (export as, quick, sfw) and file types and Save As jpg was the only one which produced the issue.

Which OS version are you using?

Are you saving via Save As, SaveForWeb, or ExportAs ?
