working on Catalina OS. saving file extension works now but does not save over jpg when saving it creates a copy which is annoying and time consuming to fix
I'm on 10.15.6, but I just checked quickly because it's late, it seems to work. Will report tomorrow. If you guys are on 21.2.4 and 10.15.6 Catalina it means either I am mistaken or you or it's up to the specific mac we are using which seems unreasonable.
Off topic, Adobe worked for me faster on Mojave with lesser MacBook Pro. It had some issues, but it was much faster overall. I had to upgrade to MacBook Pro 16" and it only works on Catalina. For sure I won't be updating to Big Sur for as long as I can.
I was light years faster on all fronts (saving, opening files, opening PROGRAMS for that matter, it takes almost a full minute and a half for InDesign to boot... am I being ridiculous with that expectation?) on Mojave. I had to upgrade to Catalina in order to upgrade my Adobe so that I could open files I was getting from clients (who don't know how to idml). And then the nightmare began...
The trouble is that if we don't have any troubles, we don't seek to find solutions. Google any new laptop and only *mostly good results come up. Once you have it and search for solution to your problem you discover, there's so much problems that previous os. Don't upgrade, unless you have no choice.
@Vanessa Fisher After working in ps for 15+ years, this is not s small thing, Vanessa 😅 Since moving to Catalina this issue was bugging me the whole time. Plus not having all my swatches in one place but divided by freaking folders!
Full on 30 years here. Pretty sure they haven't REALLY cared since Live picture died in the 90's. For them, it's ALLLL about getting new users, and gimping some longstanding workflows just to mollify iPad users.
I did not pre-flatten my psd as per my usual workflow (the reason I have always done it this way is for speed and no chance of accidently flattening the psd).
But I did create a new brand new psd just to test this out. I have gone to open a previous psd to test, and you are correct, this has NOT been fixed!
Almost all my .PSDs are simple images with no layers. There is nothing to flatten. Since there is nothing to flatten, the option to do so is greyed out. If I try to save a PSD as JPEG and rewrite an existing JPEG - it ads "copy" to the end of the file name. Makes no sense... PS asks, "do you want replace..." Yes, of course. But no joy... So frustrating...
