I've just discovered the existence of this shortcut but unfortunately, it doesn't work for me.

Howdy Antharil,

When you say that the Flow shortcut doesn't work, what happens? Also, does the Opacity shortcut work?

Thanks,
David

Whoops! I'm so sorry!

So when you have the Brush tool active and press 5 and 5, the Opacity of your brush correctly changes to 55% but when you press SHIFT+5 twice, nothing happens, correct?

What language of Photoshop are you running? What language is your Operating System? How about your keyboard? Are you using any additional applications or devices to customize shortcuts or keystrokes?

Thanks,
David

That's the problem. Your French AZERTY keyboard only allows numbers WITH SHIFT, so you're using the keypad numbers for this functionality, right? The SHIFT+number shortcut for Flow doesn't work for the keypad. As I recall, there's a technical limitation which impacts therefore all AZERTY keyboards, but I'll double-check and log a bug just in case. I did just verify that this limitation is not an issue for the Swiss French or Canadian French keyboards, but they're both QWERTZ/Y.

Sorry!

hah! Ok I got it....
Indeed, I'm using the keypad. :(
Not cool for all the azerty users.

Anyway, Thank you for the support!

Pas de problème et vous avez raison à mon avis. En fait, je viens d'enregistrer un bug sur cette problème... On verra...

Bonne journée!

I was questioning myself for the same problem.
Is there any fixes now to allow the shift with the keypad?

THanks a lot

Just found this post regarding issues with Averty-keyboards. It doesn't work with Swiss German (Qwertz keyboard) either. I need to use the numbers above the letters. Shift+Num Pad does not work at all. Still no fix for that so the opacity AND the flow can be set over num pad?

Hallo Michelle,

Hmm, that's odd.  I understand the issue with AZERTY but not with any flavor of German keyboard.  I just tried a virtual Swiss German keyboard on two different machines running the lastest versions.  No problem with the top keys.  Same with Germany German keyboard.  SHIFT with the keypad doesn't work for any languages and I don't know when it will be fixed since SHIFT+keypad often "means" something specific.  I do, however, already have a bug in on that and I added a comment based on your request.

Hope that helps,
David

Hi David
I thought " I did just verify that this limitation is not an issue for the Swiss French or Canadian French keyboards, but they're both QWERTZ/Y. " meant, that it works for these keyboards over the keypad. That's why I wrote that it only works over the top keys ;-).
I kinda thought it worked in older version (PS 6 or so) so it's odd that  it stopped working in newer versions. But when there's no solution in sight I have to make it a habbit to use top keys and then it will feel like it never worked differently 😉

Howdy Michelle,

Sorry for the late reply.  Just saw your message.

You know, I don't think the keypad has ever worked.  At least not since we started using the CC name.

Sorry!

... it worked prior to CC and it makes no sense at all that the opacity works but the flow doesn't. Are there any wishlists for "make it great again"-features of CC? 😄

Howdy Michelle,

I'm happy to put this in the queue, but it will be competing with every other feature request submitted for resources.  What's really helpful is to have stories from users explaining why a feature is important or useful, to help up correctly prioritize issues.  I'm happy to take anything you write here and include it...

Thanks!
David

I have found the same issue on my laptop. And it's not AZERTY keyboard.

To change brush flow, I cannot use Shift + numpad numbers, only Shift + normal numbers.
Numpad works for changing brush opacity, though.

I'm using Photoshop 21.1.2 release on Windows 10 Home Edition 64bit.

I have the same problem and I'm using Windows 10 64 bit English version with a Logitech keyboard. I can use the num keys to change a layer opacity just fine (assuming I've clicked V first). But Shift + num keys does nothing for brush flow.

I did find out on another thread that shift + the number keys above the letters works. Its quite an odd bug and I hope Adobe fixes it. It works perfectly fine on a Mac and drives me crazy and interrupts my design flow. Thanks!

I am still having the same issue with Shift + number keypad does not work, but Shift + number above letters work.

I hope PS could fix this, it is now 2022  and I am using the 2022 version of PS.

It is bit not convient to have to use the number above the letters

So, this never ever worked on my PC. Works fine on the Mac, but no go on the PC. QWERTY keyboard, OS and PS in English. Would be great if the features in PS actually worked.
