P: Shortcuts don't work anymore after upgrade to MacOS Monterey (I use non-English keyboard)

Hi, is there anyone with MacOS Monterey using Adobe apps and non-English keyboard?

After upgrade to Monterey the vast majority of shortcuts stopped working for me -- almost everything including Shift / Alt and special symbols, which are different on English and Czech keyboard, which I am using. I work in Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign and XD. The problem occurs in all of them.

I am absolutely frustrated because I am a shortcuts-freak. I found a partial solution – it is possible to manually add all shortcuts for any specific app – but sorry, it is really time consuming and temporary (I use more devices, so that if would be neccessary to set it up on every devices). I will be glad for any tip to re-enable all shortcuts that worked for me for many years.

I currently use MacBook Pro 16'' Intel i9 (2019), everything is up to date.

CMD+1 CMD+2 CMD+number works with my Czech MO Qwerty keyboard. It works in Chrome too. I can upload a video with a demonstration. In Finder CMD+1, 2, 3 changes the display of Icons, List, Columns, Gallery. I have no problems anywhere... Can you send me a video showing the problem?

Hello, first of all thanks for your work! It works very well yes, but I tried to turn it on again and now I know what didn't work for me. I very often use the shortcut to choose the display in the finder, on columns or on the list, icons, etc. which is CMD + 1/2/3/4 (from Monterey, so CMD + +/ě/š/č), I mainly use it on the number pad. Unfortunately it doesn't work with this keyboard. It works perfectly fine in programs, but not in finder - at least for me. I have different keyboard shortcuts very often and it's probably not possible to combine everything to 100% satisfaction (although everything worked perfectly fine in Catalina, the last of the debugged systems for me). Maybe I'm just unlucky, maybe Apple or Adobe doesn't want me to make my own settings, so I have problems with every new version of the system.

Hi I am the author of the CZ keyboard and I use it all the time and it works perfectly. You don't have to change keyboard shortcuts in programs.

As someone mentioned here, it's an Apple problem, not even the new Ventura system fixed it. As if the Programmers started to completely hate people who use a non-English keyboard.
There is a solution (link) - I don't know how for non-CZ layouts. But it had a few errors for me that I unfortunately don't remember anymore and in the end I didn't use this solution and simply changed the few keyboard shortcuts to my CZ layout.

Unfortunately, the new Adobe CC 2023 took this to an even higher level and Adobe did something similar in Illustrator and Photoshop. For example, CMD++ zoomed in on the document, now it's view 100%. But if you look at the keyboard shortcuts, they are completely different keyboard shortcuts but when pressed they do something different, in versions 2022 and below it is fine and behaves exactly as it is set.

Had that same issue for months.

Using a Mac Studio 2022 with Monterey 12.6. and CC2022.

Try quiting/restarting Safari.

Seems Safari is conflicting somehow. Hopefully there is an update soon. Ah this brings back the glorious System 9 days.

Hello everyone and Adobe!
In general, the problem with Photoshop on the Macbook 14 M1 Pro. Very often, when I press option + command + S, command + Z is triggered, that is, the cancellation of the previous action. It's very stressful. And also command + S often does not work at all or the second time. Can this be fixed somehow? What do you think, thanks!

Hi @Тарас24429919smgr, sorry you are having an issue. We just tested and it is working as expected here.

Let's make sure we're in a default state and there are no stale setting somewhere:

Restore your preferences using this manual method:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually

Does it work correctly?

If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back.

If it does solve the problem, I would like to get the folder of settings to try and figure out what is bad with them.

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Thank you,

Mam stejny problem / I have the very same problem.

All the new- as well as original shortcuts stopped working. Move To Back/Front, Lock/Unlock, Hide/Show Guides, all is gone and/or not working. Slowed my working process terribly.

Is there a working solution? Thanks
