P: Smart sharpen preview shifted and doubling image on macOS Monterey M1

I've been having this issue in the last week where I'll crop an image and go to Filters > Sharpen > smart sharpen and as soon as I do, it looks like it shifts the image about 5-ish pixels to the left and reveals the same image 'beneath' despite there being no additional layers or anything. It's the same smart sharpen settings I was using before the last week just fine. I both updated to the latest version of PS and even tried it on my bf's laptop and it does the same so this leads me to believe it's a bug. Help!

Hi all,

We're happy to announce the April 2022 release of Photoshop 23.3. This update includes the fix for this issue.

To update Photoshop to 23.3, click "Update" in the Creative Cloud desktop app next to Photoshop. More detailed instructions for updating

Let us know if the update resolves the problem for those affected and share your feedback with us.

Thanks,

Nikunj

Hi, yes, the beta 'fix' works. Will be great once the normal version implements this.

Thanks @Kacie5C0A / @Słowik inspiruje for reporting this. The fix of this issue would be part of Photoshop 23.3 release and the most recent Photoshop Beta update contains the fix, if you want to try the release and provide feedback:

The beta app is a separate application install.

Ok. Might be a Monterey only issue.

Hello! No it's every single image file I've tried and it's been well over 20. I'm on a Macbook Air (M1, 2020) Monterey 12.0.1. Like I said, this is happening on my boyfriend's as well, and he's got a brand new Macbook Pro, also on Monterey.

I am not able to reproduce. Does this happen with all files? Or just this one? Can you share the file this happens with?

What version of macOS are you running? Are you on an M1 Mac?
