P: This Face Expression File is bad or corrupted

Community Beginner ,
May 19, 2020 May 19, 2020

I keep gettting the following error when I launch Photoshop 2020 on a Windows 10 64bit machine

This Face Expression File is bad or corrupted

I assume it relates to the Default Face Expression Presets.p3f file, which a scan reveals to be OK. The application launches after I click OK but how can I get rid of the error?

I have reinstalled, tried the clean up tool and there has even been an update since it started but still it persists. Is there anywhere I can find a replacement file?

Thanks in advance

Steve

@tedt6258165

Does this work for you?

Try this solution for the "This Face Expression File is bad or corrupted" message box:

  • Quit Photoshop
  • Go to C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe in Windows File Explorer and search for "Face".
  • When you find a file called "FaceExpressionPresets.psp", rename it with .old at the end (to preserve it just in case).
  • Restart Photoshop. The file will recreate itself. If there is still an issue, the older file is still there and can be renamed again.

When starting Photoshop I get the error message:This facial expression file is invalid or corrupted. Updating the system does not solve this issue. I can klik it away, but it keeps coming up by every startup. Is there any solution to fix this? This is the message in Dutch:

IF you can't see AppData, it'll be because it's hidden. in the folder go to View > Show > Hidden items.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

I have had this come up over the last week  when I tried to open up a file.  Now I'm unable to open photoshop at all - it just hovers at the picture but goes no further.    I uninstalled photoshop this morning,  rebooted and reinstalled but the problem remains.

I need help in sorting it out.

I use a Dell OPtiplex 5080  Intel Core i7

I've found the file and am keen to delete it altogether.  If I'm reading your answer correctly it generates a new file  after I rename the old - to old.
