P: Unable to access taskbar when using Photoshop 24.2.0 on Windows 11

Using Windows 11 version 22H2. Taskbar is set to autohide.
Have just updated Photoshop from v 24.1.1 to v 24.2.0 .
When using Photoshop, hovering the mouse at the bottom of the screen does not make the taskbar appear.

I have now rolled back to Photoshop v 24.1.1, and the taskbar now re-appears when I hover the mouse at the bottom of the screen.

Hi @allachie9 testing here on Win11 with 24.1.1 and taskbar set to auto hide and Ps works as expected.  Updating to 24.2 and auto hide still works as expected.

It might help if you make sure nothing has changed in your Win11 settings as the update of Ps to 24.2 should not effect this.

Thank you,

Cory

Hi Cory, thanks for your reply.
I was pretty sure that no settings had changed in Win 11, especially in the behaviour of the taskbar, but I've just checked again. Everything appears to be exactly as it was.
So . . . I've just updated to v24.2.0 again, and the same problem as before. The taskbar will not appear when I hover the mouse at the bottom of the screen. Very strange.
Thanks,

Alan.

Is your Ps in full screen mode or are you able to see some of your dekstiop?

Thank you,

Cory

Full screen mode takes over the entire screen. There is no taskbar even if you don't auto-hide. It's the same in Win 10.

(I never use full screen so I don't know if it's supposed to do that or not)

Thanks for your interest.
I had assumed Cory was referring to Windows Screen mode (I.e. Normal, Maximised or Minimised) as he mentioned being able to see some of the desktop. In that respect the Photoshop window is 'Maximised'.
In answer to your comment, I use Photoshop in Standard Screen Mode.
Scrolling through the other PS screen modes makes no difference.
I can, however, work around this to an extent. If I use PS in a 'Normal' Windows window (not maximised), and stretch the window to almost fill the screen, then the task bar does pop up when hovering the mouse at the bottom of the screen.
I would still like to get to the bottom of this though, as things like this 'bug' me.
Thanks again for your interest.
Alan.

OK, understood.

In that case this may be related to Win 11, as PS 24.2 works correctly here on Win 10.

Yes seeing the same issue here on Windows 11 22H2 just updated to photoshop 2023 (ps ver 24.2.0)

where the hidden Windows Taskbar does not auto appear when moving mouse to the very bottom of the screen.

Reset the photoshop preferences, but still no change.

Worked fine with the prior version 2023 (ps ver 24.1.1)

@D Fosse
Thanks again for your input. You may be right regarding Win 11 and Win 10.
I've just updated my second desktop, which is still running Win 10, and the taskbar behaves exactly as expected and the same as before.
Thanks, Alan.

It seems as though others, well one other at least, are having the same issue. Do you think there might be further investigation into this ?
Thanks, Alan.

Same here, Win 11, PS 24.2 taskbar won't show in PS but will in LR which suggests it is an issue between Win 11 and PS.

From the recent update I've been facing a issue with photoshop that taskbar is not popping up when we take the mouse pointer to the bottom of the screen. Since I've turned Auto hide taskbar setting ON, I can't reach taskbar now. It's really frustrating.
hope I get a solution for this.

I am having the same issue - v 24.2.0 on Windows 11 with the photoshop window maximized. The taskbar auto hides and appears properly in all other applications, and before the update worked properly in photoshop as well.

The taskbar issue is causing an added problem when trying to switch language inputs. Without the taskbar appearing, I can no longer switch between Japanese input types, so I have to run photoshop in a smaller window.

I am noticing this also happens with Brave browser. Apart from the browser and PS the taskbar appears in all other programs. Perhaps it is a Windows property in conjunction with some other programs.

And if you open partial screen and resize near full screen all is well with task bar.  However the new screen size is lost and you need to reset it each use of PS.  Windows 11 Build 22621.
