P: Wacom tablet - Ctrl Alt Shift popups/ Windows Ink loss of pressure sensitivity (Windows 10)

Windows 10 issue. I'm using a Wacom Intuos Lg tablet with the latest drivers and the newest version of Photoshop CC 2015. After installing Windows 10, when I am using my Wacom tablet, whenever I push Ctrl, Alt or Shift on the keyboard, a tiny distracting popup box shows on the screen “Alt” “Alt+Shift” etc. In Wacom Tablet Properties>Mapping, when I disable “Use Windows Ink”, the popups disappear but the pen sensitivity in Photoshop CC 2015 also stops functioning. The sensitivity still works in other programs like Toon Boom Harmony though. Note: when ’ Use Windows Ink’ is enabled and I am using my USB mouse instead of my Intuos pen, pressing Ctrl, Alt or Shift does not bring up the little popups. Check out the thread of other people having this same problem on the Microsoft site.

If the PSUserconfig.text trick is not working for people if you remove the .txt from the filename it should work. I just gave that a go and it worked.

Hi,

To get rid of the modifiers keys (alt, shift, ctrl) popup:

In Win 11, there is also now a way to disable the cursor toast when you hold down modifier keys.

Go into Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Pen & Windows Ink > Additional pen settings: (uncheck) Display additional keys pressed when using my pen.

To get rid of the circle: Open Control Panel and select Pen and Touch.

In the Pen and Touch dialog, select Press and hold in the list and then select Settings.

In the Pen and Hold Settings dialog, deselect Enable press and hold for right-clicking and click OK.

I've used PSUserconfig to fix the problem for a long time but in recent versions of photoshop it's generating lag on my brush strokes. I've been digging for hours trying to find an alternative solution

So solution by pawe_kurowski worked for me so far, and leaving Windows Ink on:

1. Close Photoshop

2. Create txt file named: PSUserConfig.txt
and type inside: UseSystemStylus 0

3. Copy txt file to:C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2021\Adobe Photoshop 2021 Settings

4. Restart Photoshop. Cursor seems to function as it should in PS, no annoying pop-ups.

I'm using:

Adobe Photoshop Version: 22.4.2 20210602.r.242 a4f6042  x64

Wacom Cintiq Pro 24" (latest driver)

I agree, this is one of the most stupid things.... "Oh, the pop-up is telling me I'm holding down the control key... Wow, thanks Windows, I did not realize this because I'm a Moron!"

Thanks, everyone.

That annoying little pop-up was driving me nuts.
