P: When launching Photoshop it recurringly takes focus from another application/task (Windows)

When I open PhotoShop, it takes my computer a moment or two to open it (most of my PSDs are at least 2GB big), so I switch back to my browser to keep working, but every time there is an alert, or popup, or question, or it simply successfully opens the PSD, PhotoShop forces itself to the front, interrupting what I was doing in another window.
It can be very frustrating, especially since I am more often than not in the middle of doing something.
And I wish it was as simple as Alt+Tab-ing back to my window, but sometimes it just forces its way to the front again!
I don't suppose this is a feature that can be taken off/switched off?

After months of gnashing my teeth over this issue, I'm finally trying to find an answer. I don't have this problem with either inDesign or Illustrator, just Photoshop. Please someone find a solution.

So annoying! I use illustrator mostly, but sometimes I need to use Photoshop, but I dread opening it because it takes so long to load which stops any other work until its complete.

I don't know whether to characterize this as a bug or a bizarre design decision but Photoshop is the only program I've ever used that refuses to stay in the background while loading, preventing me from working in other programs during that time.

Oh great to see someone else has issues with that ridiculous 'new document' window. I have the exact same complaint, that I can no longer rapidly copy and paste something into a new document via keyboard shortcuts. It has totally ruined my normal workflow. Fantastic to see that you say you have turned it off somehow, I thought I had checked the settings for that but obviously missed it. Will check now, would be so relieved to see the back of that sodding panel.

I opened up the "General" menu of the preferences, then ticked the 5th checkbox on the left which should say something like "Use previous "New Document" interface" (I'm using a Dutch version of Photoshop).

Lot's of other slow crappy new stuff to turn off there too.

I'm on a mac, and this is still happening. It's infuriating to be writing an email or updating a ticket, and suddenly Photoshop is back on top (stealing focus from what I'm actively working on). To be clear, this is NOT restricted to when the program loads. It's the entire time it's sitting in the "background".

Bumping so Adobe knows this continues to be a problem for more than 7 months now.

This is happening on my Mac Pro and MacBook Pro, as well. Also, just because it may be intentional doesn't mean it's right. Or shouldn't be able to be disabled.

When Photoshop starts (I'm using Windows 10), it takes the foreground, interrumping every other action or program that I'm using. It doesn't start in the background like, say, Illustrator. No, it interrumps several times, no matter how many times I choose another program, click somewhere else, even minimize it! - I've got to do it twice for it to finally stop annoying with its in-your-face behavior. Please correct this! :((((

The official "We're investigating this issue. Thanks." reply is 7 month old and still no update or fix on that. Have you guys been acquired by Autodesk or what? Imagine, there are ppl out there who have to work with your tools every single day!

OK. Let's fix this. Like yesterday. Photoshop steals focus WAY too many times during launch (at least on Windows). No other programs do this.

I'm not one to just sit there for 10-15 seconds while this happens. But I'm forced to, because I'm not able to do anything else...

10-15 seconds on my PC. On my older laptop this is about a minute or more.

How can your team even go home without fixing this? Just remove the lines of code that steal focus"and push to source control and then push the update to us. It's been way too long. Makes me not want to pay for photoshop anymore.

Just admit that the design team simply doesn't give that this annoys everyone. I would respect honesty a lot more than lip service.

Honestly - no. I've been reporting the same bug in Adobe Premiere for 2 years now and I keep getting the "we're looking into it" line. Bullshit. No one is looking into it. They do not care.

I took my phone 10 days ago and decide to call the Adobe hotline to understand why it takes so long... they open a support ticket and i've juste received this answer...
Don't hesitate to do the same 😉
