Right click not working in Photoshop with Wacom pen after recent updates

I cannot right click properly with my Wacom Intuos Pro pen anymore in Photoshop or Photoshop Beta. Both are fully updated, my computer is up to date, everything is fine. I can still right click in other Adobe programs like Illustrator and InDesign as expected.

I'm not totally sure when this happened, but it was very recent, within the last week. I think this bug may have been introduced with a Photoshop Beta update (26.9), because I don't remember updating regular PS (which I use most of the time) when this suddenly became a problem. I had recently updated PS beta to the most current version when I noticed the issue. Today, I updated regular PS to the most current version (26.8) with hopes it would fix the problem. It did not.

For reference, I use the bottom button on my wacom pen as a single left click, and top button is set to right click. With the current bug, the top button behaves like a single left click, same as bottom button. All my settings are correct in Wacom app and driver is up to date.

PS behavior - cannot right click on the layers in the layers palette (I use this all the time to create smart objects, etc), can sometimes (with certain tools) right click on the document itself ... i.e. with brush tool, right click does bring up the brush menu correctly ... however, certain tools don't behave, like spot healing brush only flashes the menu and it won't stay open.

Please review all areas/tools for ability to function properly because I don't have the time to go through them all. PS and PS beta should respect my Wacom settings. Thank you.

I am having this same issue, with the same settings as the OP and running v. 26.8.1. Right-clicking with my mouse does work on everything - it is only the Wacom pen that does not. It's incredibly frustrating, so if someone could fix this ASAP I would appreciate it!

I am experiencing some really odd behaviour in Photoshop 26.8.1.

I've attempted all the usual fixes that I've been able to find on the internet:
-restarting Photoshop after wiping out the preferences file
-disabling Windows Ink in the group policies
-numerous reboots

The issues I'm facing are:
-shortcut keys randomly start/stop at some point in the editing process
-the hand tool in the curves adjustment layer experiences about a thirty second lag when selecting colors in the image being worked on
-when switching between Lightroom and Photoshop the Photoshop window will try to place itself as far left on the Cintiq as possible, i.e. the only portion of the window will be the right edge of the window with the close button and below being the only items available
-Photoshop is the only software that exhibits this behaviour at this point, I have tested it with other software that I have

At present I'm having to switch between my Cintiq Pro and the keyboard in order to continue editing. This is reducing my usual editing time by around eighty to ninty percent.

This has become rather frustrating and is making Photoshop essentially useless for image editing. Is there a fix I can apply to this or some other method of diagnostics?

Okay, now I am seeing this same behavior in Illustrator after updating to the newest version 29.6. Do any Adobe employees look at these bugs?

I also tested the behavior with turning windows ink off, and that did allow me to right click on layers palette and document in PS, but only document in AI. Layers palette still not working. So maybe windows ink has something to do with it. I have to have windows ink on for these programs or I lose my pen pressure. ADOBE please check this out. Thank you.

@Kapture benoit thanks for checking - looks like you are on an older version of PS. Mine worked in older versions too, but not in current version 26.8 (regular) or Beta 26.9

#stunning_scientistsFC4,

on my setup: either Pro Pen 2 or 3, no matter the button it does act like a right clic. Either with Wacom intuos Pro 2025(pen 3) or Cintiq(pen2).

Wacom: tablet property: Application: i mainly use " ALL OTHER".

" use Windows Link" : always uncheck.

PS v 25.12.3

Windows 11 Pro latest update.

Wacom: latest update

Nvidia rtx4080: latest STUDIO update.

These are my pen settings. My apologies, I was tired when I wrote the original post - I use double click for the bottom button, not single click. But everything else I wrote is the same - pen behaves as single left click when I press the right click button on layers palette, and is funky when clicking directly on the document, depending on tool.

@Kapture benoit I use hover click. The default settings are usually to have bottom button set to right click, but I've been using wacom tablets for over 20 years with these settings (see pic), through many versions of Adobe programs, and it has always functioned perfectly, as it should. I tested every button, including the eraser, set to right click and it will not behave properly. In all cases, no matter which button is set to right click, it behaves as a single left click in the layers palette, and funky on document click, according to tool selected. Right click is the issue here.

Also, to elaborate on pen settings, the only difference I have for PS and AI vs "all other programs" is that I have windows ink turned on for PS and AI for pen pressure sensitivity and off for everything else because I hate it lol. All other settings are the same, and buttons are set the same for everything. Again, pen works as expected in AI and ID (which I do not have windows ink turned on for), and incorrectly in PS.

Uselly,  Waom Pro Pen setting is: the tip of the Pen is left clic (without touching any button) just press the tip of the pen and you will have a left clic reaction. If you assign any button as a right clic it will act as a rght clic once you clic on that button, but it will also depend on your option setting : either  hover clic or clic & tap.  In my case I always use Clic & Tap.

No matter the version of Wacom Intuos Pro (I had all of them), now i'm using Intuos Pro 2025
