Hello,
I'm here to report a possible bug regarding the pen pressure in Photoshop 2024. I use a Gaomon PD1560 table, version 14.8.133.1259. I work on Windows 11, version 22H2 and OS build 22621.2283. When trying to draw in 2024, the pen pressure wouldn't work at all. I tried re-installing both Photoshop and my tablet drivers, turning pen pressure on in the brush menu, ensuring WindowsInk is enabled, all to no avial. The only way I seemed to fix the problem was downloading photoshop's 2023 version and using that instead. I hope this is helpful!

I have the exact same problem tried everything, and updating the PSUserConfig.txt which is usually the problem. It's very frustrating that with every large new update, we have to go through the same fight to get my Wacom pen to have pen pressure.

I also can confirm this is a 2024 bug. I couldn't figure out what was going on with healing brush being too strong and kept messing up my frequency separation for the past month or so. I just realized it had updated to 2024 and no matter what I did with PSUserConfig or windows and making sure everything was updated. Pen pressure is still bugged. Once I seen this, I immediately uninstalled it and reinstalled the last 2023 version and it works now.
Not using 2024 until they notify people they fixed it.

Update:
I got onto the newest photoshop just now, using gaomon tablet software version 16.1.0.111, and my pressure seems to be working again. Not sure if there was a bug fix or some sort of mistake on my end, but hopefully the fix stays that way.

Had the same problem, tried updating the PSUserConfig.txt which didn't help. Reinstalled the previous version of Photoshop which did 'fix' the issue.

I'm using a Wacom Cintiq 13 and I've the exact same issue, Photoshop 2024, nothing works either, let's hope they update this soon...

Noticed no pressure sensitivity this morning after updating, and found myself here.
I was previously using Windows Ink OFF in my driver, and useSystemStylus 0 in my user preferences, as I have been for years without thinking about it.
However, removing my user prefs and enabling windows ink returned pressure sensitivity, and I found myself unable to remember precisely why I had turned windows ink off in the first place maybe 5-6 years ago.
Is anyone able to tell me why not simply leaving windows ink turned on isn't suitable, as a quick play arund didn't reveal anything problematic. (Xence medium tablet, latest drivers, win11)

OK after an hour or so I realise that windows ink is both laggy, and interferes with "tap and hold" options and modifiers.
Yeesh. This should not still be a problem :'(

Previously the entire windows ink existence, it would bug out any pressure sensitivity for the tablets, so it had to be disabled and overridden to work properly. It some reason only worked with windows tablets on laptops or something, I forgot, but it was super buggy and not work on any actual drawing tablets.
But you're saying in the 2024 version, you got it to work by turning it back on? I wonder if they finally fixed it after 6-7 years of ignoring the issue and didn't tell anyone?
Never mind, I just seen your second reply......also weird, this website is also bugging out because I clicked reply to the recent response and it did not "reply" to it.

I'm getting odd lag in the crop tool and lasso tool that are hard to pin down and very annoying, and in dialogs that require you to hold down a button (some plugins, for example) they don't work properly with Window Ink. Whether it's Microsoft or Adobe at fault, who knows, but I wouldn't rate it as "Fixed", but perhaps "Less broken". I did also switch to a Xence tablet, whether that makes a difference over the wacom I couldn't say 😕

So, I think I might have found a solution to the pen pressure problem? (at least everything works as expected now), ever since 2017 or so, I had windows Ink disabled (because back then it only gave trouble) so I tried enabling it again, just to test, and the pen pressure is back in PS 2024. I don't really know why this solved it, but maybe enabling and disabling once is somehow key?
And for those having issues with and the weird ripples, a very kind man solved it for me on reddit a few years ago, here's the link with the steps I followed: https://docs.thesevenpens.com/drawtab/guides/windows/windows-ink/configuring-photoshop-to-not-use-wi...
As of now everything works as expected for me, hope it can help you!

I'll try it and see. Someone else commented that they tried it and they thought it worked, but something else with the pen pressure broke instead when turning it back on, so it didn't end up fixing it for them.

I'm so disappointed in the time and money I spent upgrading to Photoshop Elements 2024. There is no pen pressure, so the brushes don't taper. I can't find the shape dynamic check box to adjust the pen pressure as outlined in a tutorial. I chose to stay with Photoshop E to avoid the learning curve of learning a new software program, but apparently, that was a mistake.

My pen pressure stopped working as well. Using a Cintiq Pro 24. And just downloaded the latest version of Photoshop 2024.
I'm on Windows 10.
I tried it with and without Windows Ink turned on.
I tried it with and without the txt file in the Adoby Photoshop 2024 Settings.
I tried downloading Photoshop 2023.
I tried all the combination of all of them and I'm at my wit's end.
I have no pressure and i'm losing a day's worth of worktime trying to figure this out.

Still a problem. PSUserConfig.txt workaround doesn't help. wtf why is this even a thing in 2024?

Sorry, this actually works, but the various instructions available online are outdated for the 2024 version. For Photoshop 2024, you need to add this line to your PSUserConfig.txt file
UseSystemStylus 0

What tablet are you using? If not a Wacom, then try searching for the tablet model and Photoshop.
Windows Ink is the preferred API nowadays, and that does not need the Wintab PSUserConfig.txt file.
This page on the Lazy Nezumi site is probably the best resource available for tablet pressure issues.

Looks like you posted while I was typing my post. Yes the Wintab API needs the line you mentioned in the PSUserConfig.txt file.

Thanks for your quick reply. It is indeed a Wacom that I'm using.
You mentioned Windows Ink is the preferred API nowadays, any insight why that's the case? Am I missing out on anything by using Wintab?

Only that it's what I have been told by Guillaume Stordeur, who is the man behind Lazy Nezumi. I once emailed Guillaume with a question on Christmas Day (my wife worked at the local hospital) and got an answer within the hour.
Most of us used Wintab for many years as it was the most reliable API, but I think that changed four ior five years ago. Wacom tablets were the most reliable for many years, with the new Chinese tablets being a nightmare to set up from we saw here. But a couple of thei forum's regulars did a zoom session with Lisa Carny a couple of weeks back, and she now swears by XenceLabs Tablets. I've managed to get by with three tablets starting with the original Graphire in the mid 90s, but a (LOT) of pens. (Actually four tablets — I have a Cintiq Companion that still has Windows 8, and is incompatible with later versions so never gets used). Anyway, I think I'll try an XencsLabs tablet next time I feel like changing.

Hope the pen pressure problem gets solved but yeah, seems like windows ink is the way again lol
And about Xencelabs I've been hearing tons of good stuff about them lately, and they just recently launched their first display tablet, so they might be worth checking out. I also heard they have Ex-Wacom employees, but take that with a grain of salt
Anyways, I've been using my cintiq 13HD for around 8 years now, but whenever I have to change/upgrade I'll very probably try Xencelabs too!

One of the more notable advantages I found when I switched to the Xencelabs tablet was that all the Wacom problems aren't there. It works like butter.

I have a Wacom Intuos small model (model name: CTL-4100WL/K0-CA).
The drivers are up to date and I'm using Windows 11 home.
I tried to get Photoshop to recognize the pen pressure of my tablet, but that didn't solve the problem.
What I did:
1. deleted and reinstalled the driver
2. pasted the config text file into photoshop settings
3. redo my Wacom tablet settings
I can't for the life of me fix the problem, what the heck is going on?
I just wanted to draw with my tablet.

Hunting down PSUserConfig.txt to modify again because 2025 version is doing the same thing... shouldn't be suprised by now. Just let wacom do it's thing adobe. every other program works without issues.
