After updating yesterday to the latest version of Photoshop (23.3.0), the Fit on Screen menu item and associated Command-0 shortcut no longer enlarge an image,  If the Zoom tool is active, pressing the Fit Screen button still works.  I am on an M1 Mac, OS 12.3.1.

What OS?

Have you tried resetting your Photoshop preferences?

Go to Preferences/General and click the Reset upon restart button.

Hi @Crío, I can't duplicate this problem. Ctrl+0 works for me to return any type or size of image I open, new or existing, to fit on screen. I am using Windows 10 Pro and Photoshop release 23.2.2. Please describe in detail, share screenshots, or record a video to show us your issue and let us know your system and monitor or screen details. Also, what have you tried so far to fix this? Resetting preferences or switching workspaces back and forth usually clears out most problems. Let us know!

H Jain,

Usuall when I open a new document, I immediately press Ctrl+0 to fit it to the page. After installing v23.3, this doesn't work. Nothing happens until I press F to change the screen mode. As soon as I do that, I can then Ctrl+0 to fit to screen, click F a couple of times, get back to the original mode with the page fitted to the screen.

I have tried:

Uninstalling & reinstalling v23.3 - before & after shutdowns

Changing workspaces

Completely resetting preferences.

Tried it with & without the Home Screen on startup

I have now reinstalled v23.2.2 and have no problems.

Thanks for your assistance.

ps. Specs attached

You have more than one graphics card installed. PS doesn't work well with more than one.

Go through the steps outlined on this page and see if it resolves:

Sorry Kevin, there is only 1 graphics card installed. The Intel HD Graphics 530 is part of the CPU.

Go to Photoshop/Help menu and review system info.

If it shows two graphics cards - you can go through the above listed page to diable the lesser Intel HD card.

I've seen this issue previously and it was due to PS reading the built in Intel specifically and not the installed graphics card.

If a document is zoomed out so it only covers part of the screen and you select "fit to screen" nothing happens. If a document is zoomed in so you only see part of the image and you select "fit to screen" it does fit the image to the screen. This only happens when the application frame is disabled. When I turn the application frame back on everything works as it should.

Everything worked fine in previous version of Photoshop (Mac).

Hi Kukurykus,

This is happening with just one new window. It works fine in v23.2.2 & previous versions with the same preference settings. If I manually increase the size of the border and the press Ctrl+0, the page fits to screen in the set ratio.

Yes i'm seeing that on both mac and windows versions of photoshop 2022 (23.2)

To see it one needs to use Floating Document Windows.

The same problem here. Both on MacBook Pro Intel and Mac Studio M1 Max. Happens only with floating windows without tab. From 100% view back to Fitted window is possible but not if the window is smaller first. Also, in Fitted View, the border around the image is now missing and the image directly touches the options bar or the edge of the monitor.

I have the same problem with version 23.3.... especially with floating document windows when they are smaller and have to be enlarged for fit in screen. Both on Intel Mac with Catalina and Mac M1 Max with Monterey. Another issue  is that there is no "frame" in the other screen modes like in maximized screen. After using fit in screen the image now touches the options bar and the edge of the screen. I have downgraded to version 23.2.2. for now. There everything works as usual.

Same problem here. PS 23.3.0 on MacBook Pro M1 Max 16" system, macOS 12.3.1.

Command + 0 "Fit on Screen" keyboard shortcut no longer works, nor does the Fit on Screen menu command under the View menu when in the Standard screen view ie. "Floating Palette" mode.

The only way I've gotten "Fit on Screen" to work in this view is to enlarge the image beyond the screen size ("command +" a few times) then the Fit on Screen will reduce the image to actually fit on the screen.

When in Full Screen mode, the Fit on Screen keyboard and menu commands seem to work.

I believe I just started seeing this after the upgrade to PS 23.3.0, so I'm guessing it was a bug introduced in that update. Hopefully a fix comes soon.

It used to be that Ctrl+0 would fit the image to screen without having to activate the Zoom tool. Not anymore since the last update (v.23.3).

Is there something in Preferences that I am missing?

Thank you in advance.

I have the same problem too since the upgrade. Even selecting Fit to Screen from the menu does not work. If I use Cmd + it zoomes in. If I do this until the image is larger than the screen, then Fit to Screen then works. This is a bug that needs to be fixed. I hope Adobe does this soon.

Thanks for the input. Ctrl+0 (or Cmd+0, for that matter) is quick and easy. Having to switch first to full screen mode defeats the purpose.
