300 PPI in DPI

I'm working on a large trade booth display. The vendor is asking for raster images to be 300ppi. I've set my file to 150dpi. Is that right? Will it be flagged do you think?

300 ppi is 300 dpi anecdotally.

One - pixels per inch, ppi, is the correct term. Dots per inch, dpi, refers to printer ink dots on paper, which is unrelated.

Two - 300 ppi for a trade show booth must be a misunderstanding. There is no way that's needed. People always overestimate ppi requirements, and there is a widespread misunderstanding that 300 ppi applies for any print size. For this, 100-120 is plenty.

Consider a standard desktop monitor, like a 27 inch at 2560 x 1440. Go really close! Do you see pixels, is it not sharp enough? That's what 105 ppi looks like.

Thank you! I also agree 300ppi for a trade booth is too much. They also asked for vector graphics to be 300dpi, so not sure how knowledgeable they are!

@Jackie298589920iyr oy my brain is going "red flag red flag! warning warning!" lol.

In all seriousness though - totally agree with @D Fosse normal tradeshow graphics are way less than 300 even on wall prints that have close viewing. The vector graphics could be meant for any raster effects, but hopefully its that they are not converting your files to some raster format for their equipment.

Hopefully you can confirm with them or switch up.
