A challenging ligh stacking: Japanese Sword

Hi all.

Here the thing: I need to take pics of Japanese swords, which show the steel's texture. This happens only when the light is direct and at a certaing angle.

I am no trying to work stacking 4/5 pics and merging them in a singe image. But I have to make too many regulations for each layer and the result is never homogenous.

The main problem is that I will have some areas with a strong reflection, so I can not use automatic "lighten" layer merge.

I have tried with HDR too but results are random.

Any idea?

I attach some pics to show what I need to show in the image. You can see how the light comes from the left and the image looses sharpness toward the right. Then in the following photo I have moved the light to the right but the left side is now overexposed.

Keep in mind the surface is like a mirror.
